I would like to make some free tutorials for people wanting to learn Constructor. I wanted to know what would be some good tutorials to make? What would you like to learn how to do?

Starting with the extreme basics of UI and the like would be a boon to new artists using the tool. Then moving on to more advanced topics. But the extreme basics would be a great starting point.

Hi Josiah,

is there a chance to make a tutorial about texturing meshs?
For example to place no stretched stone texture on a cylinder tower. :)
Before constructor im working with the gtk radiant .. and this editor had a great texture feature :
You can place a texture on a mesh and this texture are looping automatic without stretching!
So i can rescale the mesh without destroy the texture scale rate etc...
If there a way to use this in constructor -> tutorial :)

T. John Laird do you mean a spotlight as in an object or do you mean spotlight as in light. I'm guessing u mean the object.

Alex I don't think you can do that in constructor but I certainly will check it out.

Thanks Josiah for your tutorials, so many more people can found for the work with constructor.
I hope you find a way for the loop texture feature as i gtkradiant.
Many thanks and best regards

Alex

Texturing, lighting, portals, exporting, and 'rules to follow when building interiors' (as in- don't have brushes penetrating each other etc.; if you've worked with bsp before, you might forgot that new comers don't necessarily know such things) could all be good topics. A simple house with 3-4 rooms in it would probably be a useful tutorial; you could use the same house over a few different tutorials and add to it in each of them (lights, textures and portals).

Josiah, sorry, I meant the light. What you have in your tutorial is an omnilight. What I wanted to see was a demonstration of a working spot-light entity. This is how it looks in the editor:

The problem is that it is that no light shows up in dynamic mode, and when I put it in the game, I don't any light added to the scene either.

@Josiah: Thanks for making your tutorials and giving them to the community! I enjoy learning different techniques.

A couple of suggestions for tutorials:
- spiral stair cases like in castles.
- a tutorial on scripting for the user tools... like the "Hello World" under user>general.
- domes
- caves
