New TorqueX Community

I'm thinking of starting a new TorqueX community. If you would like to help in any way that would be great!
I'm looking for moderators for the forums (different time zones would be great!), administrators, content providers, and anything else needed to make a successful community.
If you would like to join, reply here or email me @ yellowshadow101 <@> gmail com.
Some more info:
-Web hosting will be covered
-Domain name (We'll probably use a .uni.cc one)
-Forums will be custom coded or PHPBB3
-Web design will be done by me once I finish my Illusion Software website
Torque X is a great product and it would be much better if we had a community for it.
I'm pretty sure this would be the first one too.
Also we need a name for the community so if you have one please let me know.

I'm a bit confused as to why you'd start 'another' community when everything it seems you are offering is already offered here at GG? I mean these forums _are_ the community are they not? Not saying we don't need more resources and that it wouldn't be good to have more exposure, but just curious as to what exactly you think is missing here?

Something like Ziggyware was what I was thinking to make. I really think this would be a great idea.

As TDN doesn't get updated much, the forums are pretty much all new users (and old hands too) have to use to ask and find out information, and to be honest it is lacking due to the search facility not the content or help offered.
People just can't find what they are looking for.....

I think the single most important thing these forums need to make them (and torque) more accesible and useable is a search facility that is more flexible in what groups you do/do not search in.As TDN doesn't get updated much, the forums are pretty much all new users (and old hands too) have to use to ask and find out information, and to be honest it is lacking due to the search facility not the content or help offered.

Exactly one of the problems here at the Garage Games forums. With this new community all this would be solved.

These forums aren't easily searchable and TDN for TorqueX is barren. I agree that GG is the best place to host the community. Upgrade to some nicer forums and we are set. I also agree with fleshing out TDN for TorqueX, and I may add content once I get comfortable enough with the engine. Duplicating some of the sections for TGB could be a start. We'll see...

Dro.. go for it.. the lack of Torque info on the web is embarrasing for a company that supposedly is the leader in Indie development. With XNA, I do a google search and in less than 10 minutes found no less than 30 tutorials and samples... do the same with TorqueX and you are basically redirected here or the "useless" TDN. The more the better and in a format that is user friendly.. I'll contribute!

Why not contribute to TDN to make it less "useless"?
I'm interested in seeing what Dro comes up with regardless.

Also, there is no way to know what it out of date, missing info, etc when you are in the docs. Sorry - but TDN just doesn't work. The search capapbilities is awful and no one seems to even oversee what is there (ie: outdatated material).
Perhaps GG needs to nominate moderators and champions of each content area to help fix things... but I think just a standard forum would help with normal sections like: tutorials, questions, beginner info, etc... moderators would monitor the contect and update the links if outdated, etc....
Not trying to be too negative.. but TDN has not be a success and GG isn't doing much about it.
I will admit that the latest TGX documentation is outstanding! A huge step in the right direction.. couple that with the .CHM file that was put together for TX3D... and I'm a happy camper.

I can.. but to be honest - the TDN is just not setup well. Now, I'm not a big Wiki fan to begin with - I just think the setup is too confusing. The TDN is beyond confusing... take the TGB area for example. You go to a main page where items are displayed.. when you click a link for add'l content like under Tutorials.. the shooter tutorial disappears. Also, there is no way to know what it out of date, missing info, etc when you are in the docs.
