I know there's plenty of WOT fans in the GG community. Very sad news.

About the author

I design and direct games for Somatic Vision. We primarily make games for use with biofeedback, but our latest game, Tropical Heat, a jet ski racing game, is for regular gamers and is available on PC/Mac and will be available on ipad and iphone soon.

That is sad. he was a fantastic author. read the entire series including the compendium or whatever it was called.

really is too bad, his talent will be missed.

This is sad. I'm on book three right now since I was trying to wait until it was nearly finished. Very nearly.

His 12th and final book from the Wheel of Time series will be completed by a relative and editor. I guess Robert Jordan told the rest of the story to his family and they have audio of it to finish just in case he didn't make it. That's pretty cool that he wrote a story so important to himself that he made sure it would be finished if he died.

I made it to book 9. Got book 10 on the shelf unread. I think the series lost it around there, and I decided to wait it out and see if there was ever an ending or not.

Didnt want to read the equivalent to a MMORPG where there is no ending :-)

Guess this is the end - even with #12 being the planned final book. Going to save 10, 11 and (once released in 2-3 years) book 12 until then.

But very very sad. Super excellent books.

Wow...how did he die? Does anyone know? This is a surprise to me. I read the books up to I believe book 10, so I'll have to grab the last couple when 12 is out.

He died of cancer.

From the official Jordon Blog:
Quote:
It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Ohh, hmm. I guess I had read he had cancer but had forgotten. That's too bad.
