Warning Horn??

by Strikea · in General Discussion · 08/10/2002 (3:39 pm) · 10 replies

I have based my 3rd model of a concept from Pascal Bos (At least i think it was Pascal!)
This is Pascals Concept:

Now here is my modelled version without the horn:

If anyone would like to skin this or more importantly, finish it off, post here or email me at dachampiswaz@hotmail.com

Feedback is welcome of course guys.

P.S. I didnt finish it off because i tried a little bit, and came unsuccessful just trying to make the horn. So i did as much as i could to save someone else some time.

Argh! I said everywhere before that I was making the alarm horn and the bell! :-/

Anyway I haven't a good result! Wood looks ok, but the horn is quite bad. The stone base is not finished...

Oh, have you tried to make the chain using alpha? You'll have probably a too high polycount.

I've got 456 polys with my version.

oh, im sorry. where did you post that you were doing this. if i knew that i wouldnt have even attempted it. you are much better than me at this :( Plus you can texture very well :)

I think that what you have done with the horn isnt so bad. I mean, the orcs are meant to be a strong and clumsy sort of race, haveing a wierd, out of shape horn would be good for them. Therefore, having a "bent" sort of horn like the one you have is better than the concept art version i think.

Anyway, dont forget -please tell me where you posted that you were doing this. where can i see this so i know what else not to start :)

I've not say it in a PRECISE topic... :o/

I wish I was good enough to not be satisfied by that.

This is really bad, RW artists are so good, I must keep a sufficient quality, even for mapsobjects. I fear Pascal's comments about it! :o)
Sorry Pascal... I suppose this is not what you was thinking for this model.
Feel free to ask me the model if you think you can arrange it.
I'll try some improvements anyway and probably begin the bell.

GA!!! this isn't fair, I just get my .map exporter recompiled for 3DS Max R4 and was starting on the warning horn when I see this post...

Any way, the horn looks great. Now all we need to do is get someone to make a script that when you come up to the horn it plays a .wav file

Djagg is a bit lazy on the exporting Phil =O), he has me doing that so no we don't have it yet, but we will have soon. Probably this weekend.

Pascal, if it doesnt require the multires thingy, I can export it myself. I can pretty much export anything that doesnt need the LOD's.
