TGEA demo Crash

Hello Fellow Forumers;

I purchased TGEA a few days ago and installed it today. Before running the demo, I updated my DirectX drivers to 9.0c. The rest of my machine specs below.

When I started up the TGEA demo with my hardware acceleration maximized, I could watch the Walkthrough with the single 3D character for about 15 seconds before a crash. My first crash gave me a windows blue screen of death. On recovery Windows told me to turn down my hardware acceleration. My second crash was a complete freeze of the system and required a restart.

When I turned down my hardware acceleration, the demo would not open.

Ontario, are you running the latest drivers for your video card from http://www.nvidia.com ?

Also, can you grab the contents of the console.log from the TGEA directory and post it here after trying the above step?

Actually, I have the same problem again. Earlier today I ran the TGEA demo to completion for the first time. When I tried firing it up again today, it froze about 15 seconds into the demo.

Sorry to hear that you are still having problems. I will attempt to get some time where I can look over these logs in detail.

In the mean time, can you do some basic maintenance steps such as - make sure you have all the latest software updates for your system, blow all the dust out of your case and vid card fans, etc.

Maybe reinstall TGEA to a different directory or drive and see if anything changes.

Once I have a chance to look through the logs I will post back and let you know if I find anything unusual.

By crashing, do you mean just the Torque application crashing or freezing, or is it Windows? I'm asking because you mention a BSOD and your system freezing. If it is Windows going down entirely even after the update, then it is definitely not Torque but rather some driver issue that--oddly enough--persists even after the update.

Those Pentium 4's running over 3Ghz were known to be heat demons. Perhaps the heat issues present are the root cause of the crash. Can you play demanding 3D games for long periods of time without locking up? A good test might be running Prime95 for an hour and/or looping one of the 3dmark demos. Heat also seems like a good culprit if it is crashing at a different spot in the demo, but can sometimes complete it.
