How powerful is your system? do you have a mac system, a window$ system, or linux, etc. ?

what are its specs?

1) Its speed (mhz or ghz),
2) does it have a 3d card?
3) RAM ?
4) Vram ?

I have a AMD XP 2000+ (1.67ghz), running win XP ,2000 and 98 , 256MB DDR RAM, 64 MB GeForce 4

I also play spidweb games on my Pentium 150Mhz , no 3D card, 48MB RAM and 2MB VRAM

Im making a game, and I need to know whether it is worth it to require 3D hardware. I want to see how many people have 3D cards

1) 350 MHz AMD K6-2
2 & 4) 16 Mb Voodoo Banshee
3) 128 Mb RAM

I think just about anyone who's even a tichy bit serious about playing games has a 3D card (which these days means one that runs Direct3D and OpenGL).

On the other hand, you've noted that Spiderweb makes games that doesn't require them--and I haven't heard reports of Jeff Vogel starving lately.

My current system:
475MHZ Athlon
519 mb ram or something like that
voodoo3 (which I bought a month before they went out of bussiness...damn you voodoo)
Some other lame stuff

Needless to say, Torque does not work very well on this computer. However, say hello to my new computer:

Compaq Presario 7000US case
Athlon 1.3GHz+ processor
Motherboard (USB)
256MB RAM
20GB HD
17" monitor
Sound card
CDR/W + DVD-ROM
10/100 Ethernet card
Basic AGP card (once I get some more money I'm getting a GF4ti)
MS Windows XP Pro
Running MS Office, Norton Antivirus, PowerDVD player SW, Nero CD burning
software.

Whoot! All for $540 dollars too.
*is done gloating*

I have three systems right now, the first being an iBook 500Mhz running OS X with an abysmal Rage 128 Mobility 3D decelerator.

The second is a 1Ghz Athlon with 256M of RAM and a Voodoo 5 5500 or a TNT2 16M, whichever I feel like putting in that week, running Windows 2000 (soon to be Linux)

The third, and most capable, is a Pentium 4 1.6Ghz machine with 512M of RAM and a GeForce 3 Ti200. Aside from the CPU, it's a decent machine.

I agree with the earlier post, anyone who's going to game now has a 3D accelerated card of some quality. There's no reason not to require OpenGL support or something similar.

My newest computer:

AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.59 Ghz)
256MB PC133 SDRAM
A 40GB Hard-Drive (FAT32) and an 8GB Hard-Drive (NTFS).
DVD Drive (Had a cd burner too, but it broke).
21" Monitor.
A bunch of REALLY LOUD speakers in a surround sound config. *hint: good sound in games is a must*
SB Live - one of the older models, got it at an estate sale for $2 (brand new!) :).
10/100 NIC
GeForce 2 GTS/GeForce 2 Pro
And, last but not least: one, very high tech, 3.5in floppy drive - Ohhhh, yeahhh.

It's fairly new. I spent about $400 on it about a month ago. I bought the motherboard, processor, case, and 40GB hard-drive. Then scalped pieces (read: drives and memory) off of my old rig, which was a 500MHZ P3.

I was nervous, this is the first AMD I've owned since an Am486 DX2-80 (the processor sits on my desk as a reminder). I was a pretty die-hard pentium fan, until now...

Not to bring this thread off topic, but I'm kind of thinking about getting a cheap mac, with the newest OS on it. I've never really liked macs, but that's probably because the last one I used was back in the win3.1 days, and I didn't like the mac's OS. What would you guys recommend for a nearly first time mac user? Think I could just build one?

At home I usually work on...

AMD Athlon 2000 XP+
2048 Mb PC2700 DDR
Epox 8K3A+ Mainboard
4 x 120Gb HDDs (RAID)
GF4 4600
Hercules Game Theatre Pro
21" flatscreen
Assorted miscellaneous gear (network card, 48x burner, tablet, etc)

... but have three other machines (all AMD) which run at 1200Mhz or better with GF2/ GF3 cards. At work I use an old P3 866 with 128Mb RAM and a GF2 MX... Hardly seems fair that I work in the games industry and my work PC is years behind my home machines... Oh well...

1GHz AMD Duron
448MB of SD-Ram
GeForce3 Ti-200 64MB
Windows 2000 Adv. Server

Yeah I know I'm crazy using
a ment-for-server-only OS
for gaming, but hey it's great
for software development. :)

I feel that you should ask the common people. Well if you know what I mean. We are in the making of Games etc. Were more in to computers and feel the need to get better things. Alot of people buy a system no knowing what it is and the life of it.

So I was thinking... if you have a site. set up a poll.

-256mb ram
-WinTv Card (yay!)
-A Network Card
-Some inbuild Via Soundcard(its a via motherboard after all)

-2 Speakers(getting old)
-A 56k modem(that doesn't usually go at 5.6kb/s)

-P3 700mhz
-Some Intel inbuilt video card
-LS120 Drive
-A CdRom Drive
-A Network card
-Mandrake 8.1 Installed
-A Dodgy old keyboard
-64mb Ram (i *think*)

Also :
