Virtual whitespace

Is there a way to enable virtual whitespace in the editor? I'm use to being able to just cursor around all over, and sure do miss it.
Also - when you put in a brace, and then follow it with a closing brace on the next line (without inserting anything in between), and then arrow up to start typing, the cursor goes to the far left of the edit window as if the line were blank. Is there a way around this behavior?

The cursor up issue has been fixed and will be in the next release.
