I'm looking for some tutorials

What i'm looking for is a tutorial for getting a game set up from scratch in tgea. I'm okay as far as MAKING a game and using the editors etc, but I'm not sure how to actually get a new game started. I found some tutorials for tge but I can't find anything for tgea.

Well, according to your profile, you don't actually own TGEA or TGE, so I'm not sure if you've just downloaded the trial or not. Alot of the things you need are in the "Torque Developer Network" or "TDN" for short.

Your best bet, if you're just doing the trial, is to try TGE or TGB. I own the commercial copy for both and they are very good. Plus, the documentation for TGB is lots better than either TGE or TGEA, and it would be a good starting off point if you're looking to get into Torque script and other things like that.

Dean, i'm in the same boat you are, however I'm trying to piece it together myself via prowling around the cs files and changing things to see how it all fits together. Feel free to whisper me so we can learn together if you want :)

Hi Gents -

Some of the tutorials I've put together here www.exodusproject.com/torquewiki/doku.php might help you out a bit. I strongly recommend picking up one or both of the two TGE books (Game Programmer's Guide to Torque or 3D Game Programming All in One) as practically everything in those books applies to TGEA as well. TGE and TGEA aren't all that different, really, it's just that things in TGEA are in different places, and that can be quite frustrating. Certainly one engine isn't harder than the other for the basic things, it's just that one is less well-documented than the other.

Take care,
Kilo

@ Chris Harpan: Huh? I paid for TGEA and downloaded it. I've compiled the souce code and everything. i have an order number. I'm not sure why you're saying I don't own it. could you explain please? cause now I'm really confused.

@ Anthony C: how do I send a whisper? I dont see anywhere on the forum where I can whisper or send PM or anything. Sorry for being such a noob :p

@Dean: Sorry for the confusion, I'm assuming you've just purchased TGEA and they haven't updated your profile yet to include that, that's why I assumed you didn't own either version of the engine.
