Sorry if this topic shouldnt be here, if that is the case just let me know and ill move it.
Well, im about to start making a DIF content pack made in constructor and i was wondering a couple things about this kind of products. I hope people that had released any kind of CP would like to give me any kind of advice, warning, feedback, etc...
1) do they sell any? does people really buy content packs?
2) what payment/download method is the best i could use for selling the packs?
3) people want buildings (textures, dts, whatever) that LOOK GREAT and have an unique feeling to them or want buildings that just do their job of being able to be used in a generic way?
thx in advance :P

Regarding 2: Check out Plimus.com. Offers lot of different payment options and for only 0.75 US$ per transaction! Allows to deliver a file to the customer once he checked out and stuff. Very easy to use, no hidden fees etc.

About Tim Astes CP, i like how his CP looks.... but if i see a game using it i think i would inmediately recognize it, and isnt the idea of the CP to be more of a generic thing? i mean, if you want something completely unique i think that hiring a mapper to do maps ONLY for your game is a better solution. Maybe my point of view is completely wrong.
keep the answers coming plz ;)

People tend to buy things that catch their eye.

I can't give you exact figures but specific "cool" looking stuff *really* outsells generic content packs.People tend to buy things that catch their eye.

One question, is it allowed to sell products made by us in constructor? I know its a stupid question but since its free I thought it had some kind of limitation on this things.

Constructor EULA
I've read through it a couple times, but I can't find a section that covers the sale of content created with the tools, so this may be one of those rare threads we need an employee to weigh in on =)

I think that's actually a really good question The Fallen. I know the main limitation is that you do not get the source code, but I'm going to read over the EULA now. I won't make any assumptions now, but damn, that's a great question! =)Constructor EULA

But it seems the:
"This license grants only a single seat license per commercial copy, and additional copies must be obtained for each user that will be using this software within a business or corporate entity that it is licensed to, at the rate of one copy/seat per user."
Is covered by the:
"(a) The Torque Constructor License fee for this Software is $0.00 USD per each developer seat using or accessing the binary executable Software."
Not sure why this is there:
"(vii) or use the Software for commercial Software or Engine hosting services."
The creations seems though to be covered by:
"There are no additional royalties due to GarageGames, and Licensee does not have to show the Games or publish the Games with GarageGames."
Which is reasonable cause to the:
"LICENSOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF CONTENT PROVIDED BY LICENSEE OR A THIRD PARTY THAT IS INCORPORATED WITH THE SOFTWARE AND/OR ANY MATERIAL LINKED THROUGH SUCH CONTENT."
Finally, as no restictions are mentioned:
"You may have other rights under the laws of your country."
PS: Watch out for:
"It is important that you print out a copy of this Agreement on your date of acquisition as a record of the governing terms and conditions."
Just my 2 cents

As long as the textures are yours legally to redistribute without sales restriction and your not duplicating an IP work of art that already exists.
GG can correct me if wrong but that's my take.

2) I'd say using paypal, but I'm not entirely sure.
3) If you take a closer look at Tim Astes content packs, he has a lot of the same style, but he also gives more textures, so that it could be used in most games. Then look at another pack, like the SpeedBike, it has basicly one setting, yet I'm sure it has tons of sales. So I think whatever you have (that looks good) will sell.
