Who's alive in this part of the world?

Well, its not only the fact I feel a little lonely tonight :D ... but is anyone still there?
I have bought the kit about a year ago, and for personal reasons I aproached the community just recently...
and I feel like Justin Mosiman and I are the lastest RTS owners alive in the world!
Is other peole out there?
Tell you what... even when this thread may seem *trivial*, I propose to all of you, to salute, say something about you, about your project or whatever you want. This way, we will know that each other is there, and even we can do some synergy and put some movement to the community... So,
Hi! Im new to the RTS SK, but I feel happy to be finally working with it after some time of reading and research. Well, thats all for now. Your turn :)

If it works good with Torque 3D, and has good componentized / separated pick-and-choose code modules, then we definitely might use it for our project:

Rather interesting news as well, as it seems like the RTS forums are public now :)
Guys, the current RTS kit only works with TGE, but a tgea version is on its way. For now, my recomendation is to work script side, because the C++ codebase will have several changes.

Scripting should be enough to fill my time if it isnt too /too/ long a wait.
Btw, your avatar is awesome, novack.

Oh thats neat! Is there any sort of set time when its due out? or even a vague, couple of months, a year or so, from now guess? I wouldnt mind being saved the hassle of porting. =) Scripting should be enough to fill my time if it isnt too /too/ long a wait.

My newest project is an RTS so I quickly picked up the RTS SK, and after refreshing myself with Torque I'm starting to get the hang of how to use it with the RTS :) The idea behind it is sorta like the Rise of Nations style games, minus the humans. The game will be a "What If" scenario of, what if humans had never evolved sentiency, but instead the animals were the ones to evolve, and now they must battle it out amongst each other for supremecy!

Hello! My name's Sean, I've been an avid Game Designer since I was in junior high school, and been using Torque for many years. I just recently picked up Torque again as I'm trying to focus my thoughts on my dreams and actually get one of my games beyond concepts. My newest project is an RTS so I quickly picked up the RTS SK, and after refreshing myself with Torque I'm starting to get the hang of how to use it with the RTS :) The idea behind it is sorta like the Rise of Nations style games, minus the humans. wow this forum basically echos my thoughts. It was kind of my fear that GG has kinda gone corporate and have forgotten about this biz. Kinda iritating. When i bought this back in 04 i thought i'd have a game done. Its been a bit frustrating but i still wanna take a crack at it. Has anyone had success with this RTS kit or is all hope lost?

Marvin, hope is lost when you decide it is. In the mean time, keep working!

lol good point Novack. Where can I find the update to the latest version of the RTS Kit?

For now I can tell you its an RTS involving Giant Robots. Ive had this idea in my head for the last few years. I basically want to create an RTS that uses Giant robots as its main units. But I want u to actually "feel" like you are actually commanding an army of mechs, as opposed to just controlling Giant version basic troops. I've been asking myself the question: "What makes Giant robot games different than any other 3rd person/first person games. So far I know I have to have lots of destruction, since of scale, and probably customization of units in some way.

Ah. I downloaded that. I thought that it may have been a version newer than that. I haven't downloaded the RTS kit and used it in about 4 years. Im glad to see that they are people that are having success around it. I'm in school finishing finals this week. When I'm done I'll post more on the project Im using this kit for.For now I can tell you its an RTS involving Giant Robots. Ive had this idea in my head for the last few years. There is only one download, thats why you'll not see previous versions.
Regarding the project, sounds exciting! Reminds me of Supreme Commander. The point of asking yourself what makes your game different, is actually the Indie blessing AND curse! =D
Best with your project, "keep us updated" (I dont know why I keep repeating that, I think is not bringing any good luck...)

Marvin, if you downloaded it 4 years ago, download it again, I guarantee that you'll get an updated version ;)There is only one download, thats why you'll not see previous versions.

I wanted to get back into toying with the RTS kit, but I noticed I cant actually go into the TDN RTS section, it claims I don't own the kit. Im certainly not going to purchase the kit again, its been the largest flop ever created by garage games... I just wanted to take a peek again and see if there was much activity since my last download...

Im somewhat alive in this part of the world, no claims to fame, no real success with Garage Game products. I was able to prototype two remakes of some classic games, but it never went past that point.I wanted to get back into toying with the RTS kit, but I noticed I cant actually go into the TDN RTS section, it claims I don't own the kit. The problem you experienced is due to some issues on TDN itself, some sections are down since some time.
Some RTS pages are still accessible -I will try do make a list one of this days-, but if you own the kit you will have the whole RTS section of TDN ready to download -in a compressed file- from your account, under the RTS Kit - Download option.
Good luck with your coming back ;)

Why would I think I have to buy it again? I could write a ten page rant on what has changed around here since I first stopped by over six years ago. Lets just pat the community on the back for keeping some of us coming back
I think TGB is more suited to my next two small projects, its a good way to ease back in... I hope. I will see you around Novack, TBS/RTS has always been my passion

Thank you Novack, you are correct it is possible to download. I just dont understand why somebody should download a static copy of something that was supposed to be dynamic, updated by the community whenever somebody had the good graces to do soWhy would I think I have to buy it again? I think it be a good way to bring people to my world and have an idea what they looking toward when I can create the MMO.

Hello I have been with garage games since 2005. I have put together a toe curling storyline that was meant for a mmo game but decided until im knowledgable in handling thousands of accounts to make it into an rts.I think it be a good way to bring people to my world and have an idea what they looking toward when I can create the MMO.

After sitting on my duff playing PC games 20-30 hrs per week for a couple years, I had enough and finally decided to commit to finishing my BS in game design and programming. (And my GI Bill was about to expire!)
NOW - its been nearly 2 years of textbook studying and FINALLY I "get" to learn about Torque. This term one of my classes requires us to build a "demo level" using TGE.
So, naturally -- I decided to take it one step further ... and finally make that Fantasy RTS game instead of just a silly "Demo" fps level. And I have 6 weeks left to finish it ... my instructor said I was "over ambituous" and should be prepared to have to "settle for less" than my goal.
But I refuse to believe that I can't make a playable game out of TGE + RTS Kit + World Dom mod + forum but ... in a matter of 6 weeks.
So even if I can't complete everything I'd planned on -- at the least, I can share what I do manage to get done with this great community.

Well, I finally stumbled across this thread. I've been yearning to learn Torque since I downloaded the demo back in 2005. But at the time, it was a bit overwhelming.
