TGBX Crashes when wireless networking enabled

by Jeff Wofford · in Torque X 2D · 05/01/2007 (4:04 pm) · 9 replies

I'm using TorqueX 1.0.4.2 with TGBX 1.1.5. After the editor loads and shows the Create/Import/Open screen, about 2-4 seconds later the game crashes with a GPF. This happens if I have my wireless network enabled--if it's disabled, the crash doesn't occur.

Does everybody see this or is it just related to particular network adaptors?

Are you connected to the internet when the crash happens?

It may be a driver issue on your system.

Jonathon -- yes, if I'm connected to the internet TGBX crashes.

Vashner -- a driver peculiarity might be involved, but this happens with no other game or application, so it's still a problem in TGBX. I didn't happen with the prior version of TGBX.

It might also be my firewall.

It might be with any part of my networking system. The question then is--who else is having this problem?

What OS does this occur on?

Just for kicks, try disabling the wireless network adapter so that you can get TGBX to open properly without crashing, then disable RSS from the main GUI. Exit, reenable wireless, restart and see if the crashes are gone.

Kenneth, I tried that and it works--it fixes the problem.

Thank you.

Figured it was the RSS since it happened at game start, which is why I asked about the internet connection. Just didn't want to suggest it yet till I found out all the details :P Anywho, still like to know if this was Vista, XP or what?
