I feel like a dumbass..

Hey guys........ I'm sorry I have all these questions, but it's the only way I can learn stuff. I've looked thru the tutorials, and can't find anything on how to place a picture framing around the chat hud. I've looked thru the defaultSettings and everything.... is there certain steps I have to take in doing this?

Just Kidding :)

for a simple hud you could simply just add a bitmap behind it. The chat hud already in the game would be a bit different. Take a look at the realm wars source as it does what I think your trying to do.
