Can't Get Marble Blast Gold to Start!??!? (Blank White Screen)
by apwnedcow · in Marble Blast · 04/05/2007 (8:28 am) · 19 replies
I have been trying to get Marble Blast Gold to start, and this white screen which eventually swithches to black comes up. I am on a 15" MacBookPro, and had the old Marble Blast Gold (1.5.3) which I deleted. Now I have 1.6, and can't figure this out. The reason that I went up to 1.6 is that I could not rotate the screen in 1.5.3. I tried assigning different keys to rotation, but nothing worked. If someone could please tell me how to either get rid of the white screen and get the game to start, or tell me how to get the rotation to work in 1.5.3, I would appriciate it greatly. Thank You,

Hold on I'll check (I usually exit out when it comes up as not responding in ForceQuit). How long does it usually take to start?

It still won't work. It comes up with some quit unexpectedly message.

Did you add anything new, or edit the game at all?

Also, I have switched from a G5 iMac to a MacBook. How do I get the full version of MarbleBlast Gold on my MacBook?

I have the same or a similar problem. When I launch Marblebast Gold Demo on my MacBook, it freezes with a white, blank screen after I click the Play button. Also, I have switched from a G5 iMac to a MacBook. How do I get the full version of MarbleBlast Gold on my MacBook?

If not, it should be somewhere on the OSX install disc.

Did you buy it? If so, just redownload it from your account page.If not, it should be somewhere on the OSX install disc.

Even if I do get it however, as I said, I click play and the game freezes on my Macbook.

Marbleblast came with my old Mac but I upgraded it to Marbleblast Gold. I keep all my serial numbers in one place but it's not among them. I would assume you can look up my license key and resend it to me. Is that true?Even if I do get it however, as I said, I click play and the game freezes on my Macbook.

No, the licence key is unique to your own version. When entering the key, it would say (for you) "Welcome to MarbleBlast, Geoff Perlman". For me, it would say "Welcome to MarbleBlast, Tech Geek: MarbleMaster". If you bought Gold, then you can redownload it. The license key is on your account page.

Also, what do I do about the fact that the demo is crashing on my MacBook when I click Play? I'm guessing that this will continue to happen with the full version (once I am able to download it) since it's happening with the demo.

I just created the acount to be able to post a message. I assure you that I purchased an upgrade to Gold but no key appears on my account. Is there someone in sales that can find this information? Also, what do I do about the fact that the demo is crashing on my MacBook when I click Play? Go to Your marbleblast folder
Right/CTRL Click your MBG application icon -> Show Contents
In that go to Contents -> Resources -> Game (FOR THE 1.6 VERSION ONLY. If you have 1.5.x skip this step)
Right/CTRL Click the "MarbleBlast Gold" icon -> Show Contents
Once in that go to Contents -> MacOS (Or Mac OS) and double click the "MarbleBlast Gold" Unix Executable, in that folder, to launch it.
If there is no "MarbleBlast Gold" Executable in that folder you have a corrupted game package.
Note: The Unix Executable icon in Mac OS X looks like the terminal icon a little bit.

Moderators, this might be a problem occurring when you upgrade? You might want to look into it.

Yes, it is. If you use the demo version of the MBG version that is available on macgamestore.com, which I assume is the same as the GarageGames 1.6u package (non-demo), it will not work. The thing is, if you replace the unix executable in the non-demo package with the unix executable from the 12mb demo it starts, but will not go to the "Menu," although you do have access to the command-line, which you may be able to launch a mission from manually.

Use this applescript to launch the unix executable that i described a few posts beforeset versions_ to {"1.6", "1.5.x"}
set chosen_ to (choose from list versions_ with prompt "Select your version." without multiple selections allowed) as text
if chosen_ is not "false" then
do shell script "\"/Applications/Marble Blast Gold/MarbleBlast Gold.app/Contents/MacOS/MarbleBlast Gold\"; exit"
end ifThis can be executed by copying and pasting this into the "Script Editor" application included with mac os X

They both worked great until I downloaded Quicktime 7.5, which killed the audio in my AVI files. Did a complete erase and download of OSX and iLife, redownloaded MBG and Nanosaur 2 but niether will start. Just get the black and white screens, jumps to different display ratio, then quits with error message. Any suggestions?
