Sci-fi weapons (many images)

Modeling these for a TGE project that's currently underway, based on the Warhammer 40k universe. I've got a whole shedload of them modeled, but I'm putting off textures 'cause I just can't :P.

Nicely modeled!

@Neill: I'm assuming that these are supposed to be low-poly since they are for a game! =P
And they won't look nearly so blocky once properly textured.

My only gripe: Why do "sci-fi" or "future" firearms always have to look so unwieldy? (O.o)

As this is based on the 40K universe they will want to stay true to the model range, and these models are very accurate. The models carry blocky guns...guess its an image thing, the alliens have more elegant looking weapons and the humans/space marines have the standard, solid and reliable weapons.

Thanks for the comments! Texturing on the Lasgun is coming along:

No, but I did find a reference image for the Lasgun.

None taken :). They're sort of meant to be blocky - the 40k universe is all about blocky...

I agree. But hey, hey look cool ;).

Looks really great. You should try normal mapping them once the texturing process is through.

I just remembered reading somthing; unless it is published by THQ I don't think you can release this game:

investor.games-workshop.com/investor_relations/latest_from_gw/press_items/curren...

Unless I've mis-read, it looks like they have the 40K liscence:

Quote:
THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Games Workshop (LSE: GAW - News) for the Warhammer 40,000 franchise through 2013.

It keeps cutting off my post :( , hope you guys knew about this, it would be a shame if this project now has to be cancelled.

I would if I were using TGEA...

Tom: Thanks for the info. Hmm. I'm going to check on GW's IP pages again - when I first started this, I had a look and it basically says you're free to use their IP in non-commercial games.
Funny how games-workshop.com now goes straight to the store...
uk.games-workshop.com/legal/canandcant/1/
Well, seems their IP pages haven't changed. I may send them another email to ask specifically about the deal with THQ and how that affects us. Anyway, thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah, I'd definitely be careful, they had kittens when a model that I did showed up in a magazine article that was about the program that I used to create it... whew... And they sent us a Cease and Desist order, even though it wasn't included with a commerical product, nor a model for sale on its own... just simple fan art object that was photographed while it was being created instead of as a standalone image

Sweet jetbike :). It's a pity that they can get so anal about things like that, but I guess all we can do is learne from experience (others', mainly :P).

Sorry to dig up the thread, guys, but I've started up modeling again after getting my feet wet in some TorqueScript. Now thta the language barrier is down, I'm faced with problems in what I want the program to do, not just How I tell it to do things :P
Anyway, I started on a Tau Pulse Carbine because I want to build up to an alpha demo featuring Tau and Guardsmen. I really wasn't thinking of Fire Warrior when I decided that, honest! :P
Anyway, did a concep sketch this time, because I couldn't for the life of me find a useful image of a Pulse Rifle:

And in under an hour:

@Kevin:
>>"Why do "sci-fi" or "future" firearms always have to look so unwieldy?"

They look just about as unwieldy as an M-16 or a Colt 45, yet such firearms are rather common.
