There has been a lot of talk about Constructor around the office for the past few days. It's definitely getting lots of attention. As for a release date, It's still too soon to say. It's safe to say it's at least another couple months from release, though.

Just release a public beta, would you? Or sell the beta (ie. Early Adopter license). The tools people have to use now SUCK, and it's bound to be better. The mission editor rocks, such as it is, but an orthographic editor would be SO much easier for certain types of work. Interior creation is a misery I will not even speak of, here. etc. Am I unreasonable to believe it will make all the pain go away?
I call Vaporware!

I've seen posts from 2004 from GG employees calling the release of Constructor "imminent". You should be embarrassed.Just release a public beta, would you? Or sell the beta (ie. I hope so but you never know. I have heard that LightRay3d might be coming out with map. I use LightRay3d and for me it very easy. I hope so. I like modeling in one software.

"Vaporware"
To quote a famous Spaniard . . .
'You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means'
Here's a link that might help . . .
Vaporware
Considering the group of private beta testers who have been hammering on Constructor for months, it really can't be considered vaporware.
Just because *you* can't use it yet doesn't make Constructor vaporware.

If Constructor crashed in a forest and nobody was there to moan about it...

Awesome. It's about time we had another Constructor thread. It's been what, a week?

Look, I just spent 45 minutes trying to get one object to sit just _perfectly_ between two other object at an odd angle in the Mission Editor. I'm in no mood to be charitable. It woud have taken approximately, say 45 seconds, presumeably (I have no way of telling for sure) in Constructor.
I love the Mission Editor. I really do. But I know what I'm missing, and I suffer...how I suffer.

I see a lot of chatter, and no software. Looks exactly like vaporware to me. :-)Look, I just spent 45 minutes trying to get one object to sit just _perfectly_ between two other object at an odd angle in the Mission Editor. Couldn't have said it better myself. IMO the best thing we can get from constructor is learning from the mistakes made in announcing it when we did.

C'mon read my post at least.. i was merely asking a simple question while stating that
1. you guys rock and 2. I could wait if need be.
I was merely curious so please stop the hate people.. sheesh
Oh and on a side note.. if your worried about critisisms now wait until it is released.. I am sure people will rip it for not being this or that.. so if your skin is that thin now.. might want to toughen it up a bit...

I'm glad GG announced Constructor when they did, atleast I know it will be there for future games. I'm also glad their taking their time with it. this way its not being pushed out with alot of thing/bugs that have to be fixed when its done. If it doesn't come out till 2008/ 2009 thats fine by me, if it comes out sooner GREAT. I'm just glad to see updates. All good things take time and I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. Great job GG.

The only thing that chaps my hide is that GG's front page flashes "coming soon: Constructor" every day when I load it up, on my way to loading up 3D World Studio which I would like to go away. Frankly, I was (speciously) hoping to goad you into a public beta to prove me wrong!

Kenneth: I've spent ten years in a professional development shop, and of course many more years as a computer geek, and I know exactly how hard it is to make a good product. And I also know quite well what Thomas Buscaglia's comment "at least another couple months from release" means. It means it's not done yet, and the end is not really in sight. I've uttered the same words often enough to know! :-) <--observe smiley please. I am using the Torque Game Engine 1.5.1 (demo) and am getting an error anytme I try to place an object created in constructor and exported as a .dif to my game /data/interiors/obj_name folder. I get a message from Torque that says "you do not have the correct version of Torque demo or do not have enough resources to play on this server". I tried googling the error message but did not have any luck.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

I don't know the details on placing a DTS within a DIF via Constructor, but it's possible that a missing DTS would cause that error -- though don't take that as canon. I may be mistaken there.
Either way, check your console.log and it should tell you what's missing.

That usually means you're missing some textures. I don't know the details on placing a DTS within a DIF via Constructor, but it's possible that a missing DTS would cause that error -- though don't take that as canon. I may be mistaken there.
