GUI controls

by Jonathon Stevens · in Torque X 3D · 02/05/2007 (4:51 pm) · 7 replies

There are several GUI controls in TorqueCombat such as: GUIBitmapBorder, GUIButton, GUIBitmapChoice, etc. and I'm curious as to why those haven't been moved to the engine versus examples from a starter kit? Those are things that everyone would want and since the code is already done, would be very simple to implement on the engine's end.

Thoughts?

I came across the need to use them myself. Had similar thoughts also :). They seemed to provide basic functionality that seems like it should be part of the engine to begin with.

p.s.
how do we enable sigs for our profile in the forum? Can't find it...or it is an exclusive club :o?

You've got to manually do the tags.

the tag is

gge_user=bvesco

but of course you would not use bvesco but whatever your GGE name is. Surround the tag with [ and ] and it will make:

As far as the other few thousand pixels of stuff in Jonathan's "sig" it is just image tags surrounded by link tags I would imagine.

From Alex Okafor's GGE tag:

Hahaha
You have got to try that game. It's so weird, but strangely enjoyable.

It's pretty cool. I was watching someone play it here at the office a couple weeks ago. It's not what it sounds like, though. You have a carved wooden idol with a string attached to it. When you rotate the idol, the string wraps around the object as you would expect and an area surrounding the parts of the idol in contact with the string change color. The goal is to get the entire idol to change color. It sounds simple, but some of the idol shapes make it challenging. I think it might be free, actually. I'd check it out if you're curious... not to sound like a freaking commercial or anything.
