Hello, master of Torque.
now i need and answer from somebody who really undestands what's going on with the meassure units in Torque. i have read several tutorials on the internet , each says something different. i need to know what exactly mean"squaresize=8" . does it mean that one pixel from the heightmap equals to 8 meters in the gameworld?

Also garage games seem to now explain this unit mess correctly. one explanation about this confuses with others.. i rely someone from Garage Games to answer me, at least they've made this software and must have a reasonable answer. what means squaresize=8 or squaresize=16 ...etc...

Ok, i probably have to ask the question in another way. in books they say that one unit in most 3d applications(max, maya, etc.) is equal to one unit in Torque, no matter with what unit(meter, inch...) you work in Max. that means in max one unit is a square with side 8 meters, isn't it? I believe one unit in any drawing program will become one unit in Torque.
So if those units are in feet, then a six foot person in Max will become six meters in Torque.
It doesn't matter what the squaresize is, one unit in Torque is one meter,
grid size and unit size are not the same thing.
Also, you can call the unit size anything you want. If you're making a game about ants,
you can assume Max and Torque are both using a unit size of milimeters.

I don't think so, the number of units will stay the same but not the scale of each unit. I believe one unit in any drawing program will become one unit in Torque.

mostly because the books don't seem to agree, which means at least one of them is wrong.
SquareSize=8 seems to mean 8 meters between grid points (not pixels).
That would mean one world unit is one meter,
but I've also seen it printed, one world unit is 32 inches.
If you compare the height of the blue guy (just under 2 meters) to the grid spacing at SS=2,
you'll find the grid is slightly longer, which would be 2 meters.
That's what's important - that your characters appear to be the correct size on your terrain.
Quark world units seem to be in inches, but when I've popped them into Torque they seem
to be sized about right.
