Hey everyone, there is a new closed beta release waiting for your enjoyment in your product download pages now. Brief synopsis of some of the changes :
--------------------------------------------------------
-added a ton of tgbx features
-revamped the lighting method
-added some tilemap features
-added the xml schema export
-additional documentation
-bugfixes etc.
--------------------------------------------------------
Trevor Lanz has been hard at work on some tutorials as well, which should be available in the future - probably coinciding with the full 1.0 release.
Enjoy!

EDIT: hmmm, installer doesn't run. I get the error:
"Doh, can't find vcsexpress, looked in "
and that's it. Anyway to point the installer to my VCExpress install (a non-default location)?

Does the new installer update older beta versions, or do we still need to uninstall/reinstall?

Edit: Is something wrong with the forums? I go to 'unread posts' and it says none and shows me every forum message ever. Getting rather annoying! ;)

You do have this key in the registry, correct?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VCSExpress\8.0\InstallDir
I'll try to get a fix for this uploaded on Monday.

It looks like the new installer search for express in the file system is borked. You do have this key in the registry, correct?

Can you guys just push out the engine code and worry about the installer later?

Can we at least get an update on a timeframe for this? It's now halfway (for you) to the end of Tuesday when it was released on Friday. Can we at least know when to expect it?

I spoke with John and he has told me that it will be ready tomorrow or thursday. The build is currently in testing and while I know this sucks to hear, it's all the news I have at the moment.

So the build isn't ready? I was under the impression it was, but the installer was farged and that's all the needed fixing. Thanks for the update, now I'll quit bothering you every 5 hours ;)
