How do I set boundaries?

How do I set the boundaries of the levels in my games so that the player cant pass the boundaries? Right now the players can walk as far as they want too, but how do I make it so they can not pass a certain point?

Does that make the player bounce off an invisible wall?

Is there a better way? Other than building mountains around your map, or making it an island?

Trial and error is a great teaching tool. In one of my past mods, I had the player get attacked by an overwhelming number of zombies once he went too far past the mission area. No invisible barrier, no mountains/walls/water, just common sense via trial and error.

All I am able to do with physical zones is keep a player outside of the mission area after he leaves it. Why is this? How do I set it to keep players inside of the mission area?

Well, I just went with Maxwell's idea and used physical zones.

Whoops - I just noticed the last two replies to this. Sorry, I didn't have it set to notify me of replies...Well, I just went with Maxwell's idea and used physical zones.
