I am gonna wait for the Mr. Fusion version.

Put some electrodes on your head. Half of a week old New Years beer, a tortilla, some bannana peels
and then you just close your eye's and image a structure then Mr. Fusion Constructor's built in dual-layer DVD drive spits out a masterpiece DIF file.

Ok that's overkill scratch DVD drive and put in USB plug for a flash drive.

The feature I am expecting is placing a dts in the map and exporting to dif.

You mean exporting a mission file so that your DTS and DIF are correctly situated together?

I think he's talking about Static Meshes?

Static meshes as part of your project. That makes sense, though I am sure that a couple of engine changes will have to be made to the DIF format to allow for static mesh references to be compiled into the system. But reference meshes in the CSX format inside of Constructor is a bit different than a pure mission export feature (which would be extremely sweet!).

Sigh...

Really don't know the 'soon' is how soon. Maybe Garage Games feels good to take such a long time on this project. Half year ago I purchased GG products with full trust on it, but I am afraid the efficiency of GG is too low, especially in a global envirement today.

Globalism is not new, and technology advancement in a global market is not a new topic. Neither is a shifting market or running to catch up. Companies with much larger budgets, divisions around the world, scramble to catch up. Talk of global environment is a necessarily general topic with extremely precise context, two things which grind at each other.

LOL talk about going off topic... we just need an update. It's 22nd Jan an not a peep last update was like what November?

As a customer in China, I need things to ensure I can go faster than other local studios, China speed is horrible and now we start to feel the pressures in local game development. If GG can not make it, we have to adjust our direction asap.

I agree with Vashner. a new update would be great ^^

I agree with Anton. When Constructor is released, it will be great. Of that, I can assure you. But if it is holding you back, use Quark for free or 3D World Studio for a small price.

Why not use 3DWS ? www.leadwerks.com
Dont build your business on things "soon to be released" there is always going to be new products right around the corner. Use the tools that is available today and get the project going.

Blender even does map's now. I purchased 3dws but grew tired of it, it worked fine but it does not look like constructor. Besides don't get mad I am 15th in line (one person got hired by GG so I moved up 1 in line). Been waiting almost 2 years.

Why I don't try other tools is because we want all things officially, it will make less trouble during the development(Some tools may better, but not our first choice). All I want to know is a release date. GG is not a personal studio, but looks doing things without schedule.

Do not wait for indeterminant convenience. Use something that will get the job done now. Otherwise you are more to blame than any tool you are not using. When it comes out, integrate it into your workflow and gain the convenience of having a native app.

But don't sit idly and then talk about GG not working in a global market.

Through ppl's talk on other tools and I tried some trial version, I didn't see any 3rd tools better than the official ones on torque. I am running a company, I would rather everything move on the official product line.

A release date no matter it's an exact day or month, will help us making a schedule.

Have you used Constructor to make such an evaluation. Of course, tools that are created to work with a specific engine are going to be better with that engine than those created to work on a general level. But if your project is going to move forward, you cannot afford to wait. Work with something free like Quark if your budget does not allow both 3DWS and Constructor purchases. I like Quark, but 3DWS has a much cleaner interface, allowing me to work much faster and more efficiently. Then, when Constructor is released, integrate it into your workflow. That way you are not waiting and producing nothing.

Constructor is just a tool, albeit a nice one. Since you do not have it in your arsenal, you need to get something else in there to work on your project. Otherwise talking about rapidly changing markets is completely and utterly useless because you're not in the market. You're talking yourself out of it by waiting around while others are working.

And, Sun Yu, this isn't just for you. I noticed that my last post seemed a bit harsh, and I didn't intend it to seem like I'm coming down hard on you in particular. I'm speaking in general about waiting for tools rather than working (and you are probably working hard on other aspects of your project...but some groups are not and are using a lack of release dates as an excuse).

I see it with Constructor. "We can't make our game because Constructor hasn't been released!" Then use another product. Quark is free. Radiant is free (though you will have to get it setup correctly). 3DWS is a nice commercial product. There are options.

I see it with XSI. "The XSI exporter hasn't been released! We can't make our game!" Then use another package. Your workflow is important, yes, but so is actually making your game. Use Milkshape or Blender or GameSpace or Shaper or Lightwave or Maya or Max or Deled. They all have exporters. Make your game, and when the exporter is released, integrate it into your workflow with your favorite app.

Or choose another engine that works with your app. I hate pointing people elsewhere, but if your artists cannot achieve what you need with the tools they work best with in the current engine, you will need to have tool programmers on-board to enhance the workflow or you will need to use an engine that supports your app out of the box or with minimal integration and still works for your target market.
