I woke up at 4 in the AM to get this Wii for my dad. The bad thing is that they are not wanting to give it to me.

That's funny as hell. Donald, make sure you have a chat with your dad about the "this is the greatest gift ever" then run to the returns line move. ;)

Got my Wii by waiting outside Game in oxford street for a few hours. Get him playing golf or bowling and he'll soon change his mind. If you get wii play I bet he'll like cow racing too.

This one guy at the store today had to bring his Wii back because his Wii drive broke. How much would that suck? To have one and not be able to play with it! He did say it broke after he played for 19 hours straight. But still.

I have a Wii coming soon. I'm on an unoffical call list. When it gets to the store, I get a call and my Wii envy goes away forever. This one guy at the store today had to bring his Wii back because his Wii drive broke. How much would that suck? Well actually thats a lie! I got him to play Dead Rising the other day, he died instantly and gave up straight away. This is why only casual and supposedly Wii games can be picked up by people who don't regularly play games. Because with my Dad for example, he doesn't want to learn the controls. I haven't played Dead Rising much, but if I remember correctly, every single button is used. In fact, when I played the demo a while ago at a friends, I found the controls quite confusing as well.
This is why the Wii is good, but you still have to get the non-gamers at least a little interested so they'll give it a try!
For the UK peeps out there, my tip to getting a Wii is to go to non-game electrical stores. Punters often forget they have games consoles, and only go to games stores. I went to 2 games stores (one of which I once worked it) in which they had sold out. I went to Argos, they had 7! That was 3 days ago, I'd say go at opening time as well.
I'm not sure what to do though. I bought a (2nd hand) Xbox 360 as well, but I can't afford to keep both. I was so pro Wii, right up until a week ago when I discovered XNA and Torque. Now I'm thinking of selling the Wii, I haven't even opened it! Because I might get more for a new sealed one. But the 360 was so much more expensive, and now I have to pay

Even though the Wii is supposed to be good for (perhaps) older, non-gamers, theres still many out there who don't like the idea. They still don't want to try anything new. My dad would be exactly the same! Even with normal games, I try and try to give him the controller but he just refuses! Well, he DOES play FPS games sometimes, but he wont try anything else...Well actually thats a lie! I got him to play Dead Rising the other day, he died instantly and gave up straight away. Oliver I would suggest holding on to the Wii with as much fuss is going on with I can't see GG not coming out with a tool for it. As far as a business move Nintendo is out selling sliced bread right now so they would have to cater to that market. Plus they should have some exclusives coming out soon, which will make the game even more appealing.

I was also sceptical, because Nintendo to me doesn't look like a company that would let people just make uploadable games for their console. They've always been so strict when it comes to "family" viewing entertainment. I really do wonder what they meant when they suggested they'd be delving into the indie area.
You really have tempted me to keep it. You know one thing that really rocks my boat though. Aparently the Virtual Console games here in the UK, run at 50hertz speed and with borders. Like they used to when they first came out, thats so annoying. And aparently they wont be releasing any games that didn't come out in this region in the first place. This is one reason why I wonder how much freedom Nintendo will give to develop on their console on a small scale.

Really? Oh excellent. I thought it to be unlikely that GarageGames would bring anything out for the Wii. Even though I have kept in mind that Nintendo did mention some kind of indie development for it. But they haven't really said anything about it since before the consoles release.I was also sceptical, because Nintendo to me doesn't look like a company that would let people just make uploadable games for their console. Not to try and change the thread.. but that is one thing I could never understand is this region restriction. Why make your customers and fans have to jump through hoops in order to enjoy your product. I think Nintendo is letting the belt out a little bit with the fact that they already have a M rated game. Far Cry. Just as Xbox has a filter that games have to go through before they make it on Xbox I am sure nintendo will have one as well. I have some pretty neat ideas for the Wii and its 24 hour connect feature. I can't wait until it gets more software for it.
