Exporter does not create .dts

by Kevin Roe · in Artist Corner · 12/15/2006 (10:00 am) · 7 replies

I just installed the exporter script and attempted to export my model. The exporter appears to have worked and the log file says it worked, but there is no .dts file where is says it should be. I have tried this on 2 different machines now with the same result. Am I doing something wrong?

Here is what the log file says:
Torque Exporter 0.92
Using blender, version 242
Processing Scene...
Cleaning Preference Keys
Exporting...
Finished.

Did you do all the steps needed to set up the file? Here is our tut for 2.37 -- the screenshots look a little different, but the steps are the same:

Ok, that was super helpful and exactly what I was looking for! Now on to the next step. Apparently the exporter did some strange things to the model, linking tris together is some strange ways. Also, it almost doubled the amount of faces even though the original model was all tris. Any suggestions on this?
Here is a pic of what it looks like before and after:
roia.servegame.org/images/funky_geometry.jpgYou can sort of see where its connecting the faces in weird ways. Looking at the inside of the body is like a maze of crazy looking faces.
Now granted I most likely will be breaking a character up into multiple parts and such for when its rigged but I will most likely want to use complex shapes like this for statues and static things.

Yes, indeed, nice model. You got it textured and rigged yet? That'll add a few more wrinkles to your process if you haven't yet.

YAY!!!!! That 0.921 version worked great and the model looks exactly the same now in the viewer as it does in blender.
