Is TGE 1.5 stable?

by Sammy · in General Discussion · 12/03/2006 (6:37 pm) · 7 replies

Hi all,

It is said that TGE 1.5 is unstable. Some prefer to use TGE 1.4. Is this true?
(I am considering to upgrade to TGE 1.5 ...)

Thanks in advance

Why not download the 1.5 demo and fiddle with it for a time? That is what made the largest impact on me as to upgrade NOW, or wait till later..

From my view, it isn't. Many of the terraform features crashed, the vehicles locked up, and the rigids have a collision issue. This might just be me though, I still prefer 1.4.

Hi Maxwell Marsh,

What is your pc configuration?

Are there other people encounter similar problems?

@Caylo Gypsyblood: IMO, Sometimes demo may not show all features

Thanks in advance

Only stability issue I have run into so far is with the fxShapeReplicator locking up when clicking on its object after it is added to the world.

Vehicles, fine once I removed the debrisShapeName parameter from the datablocks. But I do not have my vehicles doing mach 5 and crashing into terrain.

Seems as stable as 1.4.2 to me. 1.4 on the other hand.... garbage.

I can assure you, the demo shows everything you get with the SDK. Plus you get to see how it runs on your system. Get to try out the new features.
When you ask people for there opinions you will get opinions, and by definition 'a personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof or certainty;' that do not sound like it should have a large amount of decision swaying power, just MY opinion. Oh and going by popular market trend and the Torque engine, 1.4 was better then 1.3 what was better then any of the 1.2 build and the 1.2 kicked ass over the now primitive 1.x code base- But i never bought into Torque in the early years, i had the demos from every major code reversion.

Hi all,

1. I tested TGE 1.5 demo. I could not select opengl driver, only D3D. Why?
In TGE 1.4, I could select either opengl or D3D.

2. I found that the mirror in D3D mode could not see the reflection, like a solid wood.
Is this an error?

3. When I switch between full screen and windowed mode, the gui text does not display correctly. Why?

Thanks in advance
