Bones and animation

I think I know the answer to this question, and I hope I'm wrong:
Can I write animations dynamically by changing bone parameters through script?
I'm looking to create a game that has 6 different races and a huge amount of weapons, but I don't want to have to go through every character for every race and create an animation for holding each different weapon. So I thought, instead of saving animation files for all those, I could just manipulate the arm bones to hold the weapon properly.
So, is that possible in Torque?
