Open letter to all Asset Creators

Ok guys. This is for all 3d modellers, texture artists, and level designers:
THE TIME HAS COME TO SWITCH TO MEDIUM POLY!
Yes, yes. You still want to get some life out of your old products. I hear ya. But low-poly is looking dated now. REALLY dated. And with TSE and many other platforms taking higher polycounts (not that polys necessarily means detail) and normal maps...and other features - the old assets are looking tired.
This is just a general shout out to the entire community. There's a lot of great talent getting overlooked simply because stuff looks dated.

Talent is talent, and it's your target platform that will decide how many polygons you'll be using.

Me thinks if someone is talented enough to make low-poly look good, it's an easy bet they can do wonders with a higher polycount and normal mapping. Talent is talent, and it's your target platform that will decide how many polygons you'll be using.

Size is never what matters... Sorry, but I just could not resist.

IE: RTS dosn''t use MED poly UNLESS YOUR game has a zoom down to the level.

Projects are too varied to be saying this as an absolute.IE: RTS dosn''t use MED poly UNLESS YOUR game has a zoom down to the level.

Point taken. Ok. For all 3d game-mod, FPS type assets - the time has come to start using a little more detail.

IMO, low poly is perfect for a lot of indie projects.
