Could we have the water update in Torque 1.5?

I think it would only make sense... it's a great resource.

@ Mark: I agree with Marcus -- it just doesn't make sense. And like you say, it's a great resource... i.e. we already have a resource that gets the job done and isn't too difficult to bolt on.

You can do what I did for TLK 1.4. I have two version running in same folder. One has the nice cg water in the exe and one does not have it. On high end computer I run the one that has cg water and on the low end computer I run the one without cg water. When I compile the two they are in separate folder and I mirror the changes and recompile then I copy over to my main folder from the two compile folders what I need for both to run.

I second Marcus. It's great resource and easy to put in. It does not need to be in TGE 1.5. If you want it there it take very little time to install. You can do what I did for TLK 1.4. 1. It doesn't make the minimum requirements higher, since it can fall back to the old water
2. The gap that it closes is only miniscule. Plus, they've already released some official stuff that contains it:

There could be an option to turn the waterblock feature on and off, eliminating the minimum requirements issue.

From what I understand, there have been issues with it on some ATI cards as well. It doesn't seem to have affected cards that the resource author used, but I have noted that some of the GG employees have had problems with it on some cards. That alone would be a reason not to put it in.

If you do have it put it then it would be a good idea to have a 'switch' to turn it on and off. There might be a fair number of people who develop for old systems that dont have the computing power and/or have the ati bug. If its optional in Engine then its easy to make it optional for the user in a menu :)

It's not very hard at all to add it to the engine anyway.

I don't like the idea of including out-of-the-box, it would prevent Torque running on PC's that don't support CG, and require everybody to install the CG runtime files, it's a hindernace especially on games that make no use of water. It's not very hard at all to add it to the engine anyway.

so it doesn't really raise the minimum requirements.

Manoel's water falls back quite well on systems without CG support,so it doesn't really raise the minimum requirements.

I agreed Mincetro, I dont like the idea. It will not run on all cards. If cant run on all card it does need to be in there. You maybe asking for can worm you may reget later. It very easy to install. Plus TGE is not TSE, If you want all the great stuff then get TSE. Why do you want to make both engine high end. Yes I know it will fall back to the old water source but if look close enough there alot tweaking you have to do now to old water source to get look good. If you look good enough you can see the effect from Cg install.
Torque 3D Owner Dark Tengu
1) It makes the minimum requirments highter.
2) It closes the gap between TSE and TGE. One of the selling points of TSE is cool waterblocks.
