Console Licensing

Hi -- I am considering purchasing a license to the Torque Game Engine and Torque Shader Engine, but have been unable to find all the information I need on the website. I am interested in creating a game for the PC and Xbox360. I have done many searches on these forums and read the FAQs and there are many that address this topic, but none of them seem to address my specific needs.

Here is some background info on my situation that will hopefully help clear things up.

-- I am an indie developer (as defined by the Torque licensing agreements).
-- I own an official XBOX 360 Dev kit.
-- I do NOT want to use XNA Studio.
-- I do not need information on console publishing, or on the Microsoft approval proccess.

First of all, I wanted information on which product was the right one to license for me. I noticed that Marble Blast was an XBLA title and is reported to use the TSE, but reading through the TSE information, it mentions nothing about XBOX360 support. I also noticed you have a version of torque especially for the XBOX360, but it uses XNA Studio and C#, which I do not want to use, and from my research looks like the internal GG XBOX360 teams didnt use it for MB:U either. Is there a version of Torque availble for those of use with Dev kits, so that we may persue a more traditional development plan?

Secondly, I noticed in the licensing agreement this line:

Quote:Licensee may not release Games intended for operation on Game Console Systems including the Microsoft XBox, Microsoft Xbox360, Sony Playstation 2, Sony Playstation 3, Sony PSP, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii or any successors or future console platforms without first obtaining a separate Torque Game Engine Console License from GarageGames.

But, doing several searches on the site and forums, I could find no information on the "Torque Game Engine Console License", and how much it costs. How can I obtain this information?

Thank you in advance very much for your help!

TSE does not have support for xbox 360 directly. They used a modified TSE for Marble Blast.
When it was coming out last year, GG stated that they were looking at making TSE for 360 available, but you had to have a dev kit, if I remember correctly.

GG is making a new engine called Torque X.
However, it appears that it will need XNA Studio, so that won't be what you want.

I would email GG directly and see what is possible.

There is a C++ version of Torque Shader Engine, called TSE360, for use with Dev Kits. Pricing depends on whether you want to do a Live Arcade, or boxed product. Support and training are also available for TSE360. I would be happy to discuss the details of your project and the appropriate license(s). Please direct inquires to daveyj at garagegames.com

Related question regarding console license.

From the TGE 1.5/TSE Commercial EULA:

(c) Licensee may not release Products intended for operation on Game Console Systems including the Microsoft XBox, Sony Playstation 2, Nintendo GameCube, or their successors without first obtaining a separate Torque Game Engine Console License from GarageGames.

Does this mean that developers MUST license TSE360 from GG in order to ship on a console, and cannot modify TGE or TSE to run on a console ourselves?
