MS 4 seems to arrive...

I just updated my TSE HEAD and there are a couple of new files since the 3.5 release. New/updated files like D3D, Atlas, materials and stuff. Seems like MS 4 is about to arrive... :-)

Microsoft just purchased controlling shares in GarageGames so MS4 has been scrapped to make way for a REAL game engine TXE! =)

Minimum requirements have been upped to the Intel Core Duo 2.8GHz and 1024MB RAM as well.

Keyboard and Mouse systems have been replaced with XBox 360 controllers only as well, so PCs that use TXE or any future versions of TGE/TSE will require XBox 360 controllers.

Last I heard they wre on the verge of releasing TSE. I doubt even though Microsoft and GG have kind of merged GG would scew over their loyal comminity. Yes business is business, but business is nothing with out customers. So I doubt GG will go back on their word/committment. They are probally just working out the bugs on TSE. I never saw anything about minumum requirements or having to use a mouse. Alot of good top games are on the PC, such as Fear, Doom 3, Quake 4, Tom Clancy's war game, and so on and so on.
I know GG will not scew the community. Besides the world does not revolve around the Xbox360 or does it depend on it. Don't get me wrong I have an Xbox360 and its cool as hell, but I still spend just as much time playing games on my PC. The Xbox and PC are two totally different experiences. By the way Jonathon Stevens heres a thought (think for a moment) Last week GG post an update on TSE, They have been working on it for over Two years, Why would they scrap it and call it quits. That is alot of money an time, GG has put in the engine, so be patient let them do thier job and they will give the best product possible.

It Looks like MS4 from a cursory glance. The new lightkit is there (in Engine/LightingSystem). A whole ton of files are updated...

Haha, me? Not often, I just pulled a few minutes ago, and saw this thread. I've been following John Kabus's updates on the Wiki for the new lighting system in MS4, and I'm definitely going to enjoy this evening playing with it (along with everything else, of course!)

Dynamic lighting appears to work. The editor values for the HDR, bloom, and overall everything to do with lighting don't do anything though. Guess we'll have to wait for the official news release before anyone knows what to do with it. :P

Still looks pretty nice.

Hell. Yes.

Edit: Looks like mass bits of pref codes are commented out in the light manager. Take a look at sgLightManager.cc. I'll dig around a bit more. Really sweet :)

Edit Again: Hrm, so whats the deal here, the bloom code is sort of there and sort of not, seems as though some variable names don't match up in the commented out bits of code, would someone from GG care to explian why exactly this is the case? John in particular ;)

The shadow code is pretty cool stuff. It would be really cool to see proper decals using this code. If anybody would be interested in doing this it would be really cool :)
