Hello,
I'm normally a static object modeller, but this time I went out on a lim.
2167 polys
6-7 hours.. Them dam smoothing groups was fighting back. Other then a few minor touch ups I think its finished.
The ammo clip will get a little more time.. few cuts and smoothed.
So...... What'cha think??

I'm not a modeller, but that looks damn good to me. What's the polycount? What app are you using?

I model what I see... so good reference pictures lead to good models. Thank god for goggle and good artist.

Is this for Torque? I may be run, but unless you are using TSE, 2167 is a little much for ONE weapon...

Video cards and pc's these days can put out some graphic's. The older pc's need to upgrade.
I'm useing
800 - 3500 on weapons
2500 - 6000 for vehicles
The collission of these models will be very very very low... thats what sucks up all the resources and over done effects. I dought drawing 2167 polys for your main weapon in use will do much damage.
Ploy count will really depend on the targetted pc.
p4 2.4ghz with a good video card 6800 or better. A nice motherboard to push the limits of both.
Graphics, Graphics, Graphics :) It's all in the eye of the beholder.
I dont think there is a limit... so I say push the pedal down as far as it will go then left off the throtle!
(but only if need be)

2167 polys for the first person and 1st LOD of 3rd player is fine I think. Some of the detail can be placed in the textures im sure. I'll try to get in both engines asap and see what it looks like. The coders.. and artist will have to work on some of these issues. poly count is easy to reduce if need be athough. Game art, renders, sketches , and effects should be eyepopping in a gallery and maybe reduce for for blown in game play. Will see..... Video cards and pc's these days can put out some graphic's. The older pc's need to upgrade.

Depends of course if you ever get to see the clips in the final whatever :)

The model looks very good. Since you put so much effort into it, maybe you would like to know, that the magazine is a bit wider than just one bullet. So when you look down the clip you can still see the bullet below (about a third of it, if I remember correctly).Like this:
