Tribes 2 Linux Update

Hi guys, its me from the Linux forum. }:>
My company, L2C Porting Group, seeks out and secures contracts to port games from Windows to the Linux/OS X environment. We do all the backend work and ensure 100% functionality under Linux. While we are not Loki Games, nor any way affiliated with previous employees of Loki Games, we are still nonetheless a steadfast company working hard to bring fun to you. Guys at GarageGames, were willing to update your mods to Tribes2, just give us a ring. Best bet is to email me.
Erik

We are 100% behind Linux for all things Torque related. However, T2 Linux support is up to Sierra.

Sorry for bringing a dead forum thread back to life, but can anyone tell me if it's still possible to buy or get a copy of Tribes 2 for Linux? I'm in great need of it. :(

Loki Games used to sell it, but they aren't around anymore. I think I heard that Tux Games picked it up, but I haven't checked their site.

Also, I have no idea if the latest T2 patch supports Linux (but I highly doubt it).

There are Linux updates to the latest patch, but I cannot find any on-line stores that still sell linux versions of Tribes 2. TuxGames doesn't sell it anymore and I've gone completely through Loki's retailers list and still none of them still sell it. :(

Bummer that it isn't available anymore. You might try posting on tribalwar to see if anyone knows how to get the linux version running with the windows cd. I think loki took steps to make this difficult. (i.e.: all of the updates are distributed as loki patch files off the original loki cdrom).

Might also try posting on icculus.org.

You could always try buying a windows CD and finding someone to make you a copy of the Linux cd. Hopefully, you can use the windows cd key for the linux version, although I'm not 100% sure.

I already have bought me a Tribes 2 copy for Windows from a local CompUSA store(I'm so glad they still sell it!), but I would love to play Tribes 2 on my linux workstation while my brother or sister is using the Windows machine. I do know for a fact that the Tribes 2 serial of Windows will work with the Tribes 2 Linux version because all the serial authorication is done through the same system on the community tribes servers or whatever you want to call them.

I do not know anyone personally that has a Linux copy, but I sure do wish I did. I am so surprized that Sierra will allow the game to die like that on a operating system just because they think Linux users aren't special enough to buy it anymore. I just wish someone over at Sierra will just let one of the GarageGames people or someone in Sierra to release the binaries on a public accessible FTP or something. It's just such a horrible thing for Loki's hardwork to be wasted like this. If there was a store that shipped items to the U.S. that was still selling Tribes 2 for Linux I would buy it from them!

Hmmm, I just had an idea. Why not GarageGames start selling Tribes 2 on this site? At least then we'll be able to buy Tribes 2 for Linux. So does anyone think this is possible?

I doubt anyone's going to carry Tribes 2 Linux again, including GG.

    Nathan, check your mail

I wanted it along time ago ...
and had no luck finding it either :(
stuck still booting to windows to play games.
... now Tribes is close to forgotten and I want an AAO version for Linux :)

Yeah really. It would be very cool if Torque Owners could have access to the Tribes 2 source code via cvs. I don't see how Sierra is going to ever use it again since no one else can figure out how to use it that hasn't already been laid off.

hmm... you could buy another windows version then warez the linux version - sounds completely ethical to me :)

    lol!

Actually I might have to do that(get another Windows version) if I were to get a linux copy because if my brother or sister were to be playing Tribes 2 and I were to try to use the same serial or login name I would most likely be given the denied response. I remember reading about that on a Tribes forum before. :P
