Weird Message from Virus Software about TGB

by Alan H · in Torque Game Builder · 08/22/2006 (6:47 pm) · 4 replies

Got a question, my virus software (Zonealarm) gave me a warning saying the "ADVkit.exe" was a key logger. Upon further investigation I see that this is the EXE for the new content pack for TGB, the adventure kit.

So what gives? Just a mis-labeling by the virus software?

ZoneAlarm is a firewall package, not a virus scanner.

It is most likely noticing that TGB is capturing your keystrokes for movement and giving a warning. I used to get this with ZA in many games because they capture keyboard input.

You should also look at virus software in addition to your firewall, BTW.

AH! I gotcha, I figured it was picking up something.

Actually, I have the zonealarm suite which included a virus package and a anti-spyware package so I am covered. I also own Symantec's virus software too.

Thanks man.

Ah. I didn't think they'd added that to the highest version because of AVG's release. Of course, I haven't checked in over a year!

Oh yea, Zonealarm has all the bells and whistles now. I like it alot more than symantec. It is a little bit of a memory hog but the interface is very easy to use in compairson to most virus programs.
