Bryce has been discussed on these fora, for example for making skyboxes and rendering backgrounds for 2D games. (See GG threads on Bryce here: search.garagegames.com/search?q=bryce+-cogburn+-kaminsky&restrict=&ie=&site=Gara...).
If you wanted to get in the Bryce game, the ante is pretty low right now -- $0. Apparently in anticipation of the release of Bryce 6.0, Bryce 5.0 is available for free at downloads.com.

Mac: www.download.com/Bryce/3000-2187_4-10574904.html?tag=lst-0-1
Once you install you need to register it at daz3d.com.
I'm not sure whether this will entitle you to upgrade pricing to Bryce 6.0 when it becomes available.
(There is an intermediate release -- 5.5 -- that is still being sold here: www.daz3d.com/program/bryce/55index.php.)
Just thought you'd want to know...
EDIT: THIS OFFER ENDS ON SEPT. 6 2006! (That's from the Daz website.)
EDIT: Copied the PC link from Benoit's post below in case someone doesn't read down. Thanks, Benoit.

Wow. Very cool. I've been using Bryce 2 for ages, but now could be the time to upgrade.
Thanks for the heads up.

This is sweet! I used to use Bryce years and years ago.
