Tse 360

In the what's new link the guy mentions TSE 360 is that the same as TSE or is it something different? Also, I was wondering if I decided to use the TSE, is it still possible to use it and get GG to help me get my game on the x box 360 or would I have to get torque x?

thanks

TSE, TSE 360, and Torque X are completely separate products.

TSE is a PC game engine.
TSE 360 is TSE ported to the XBox 360 and available once you have secured a developer license from Microsoft and pay GG the licensing fee.
Torque X is specifically oriented to XNA and managed code development for the XNA framework for Windows XP and the XBox 360. It combines pieces of TSE, TSE 360, and TGB, but is not the same as any of those products.

How would you get TSE 360?

Is there any entry path to TSE 360 for indys? i know microsoft wont play ball with you unless your an established "Studio". If your not they just point you to XNA.

OR is this one of those "you complete your game, then you pitch it to studios THEN if thye like it microsoft will take something like 20k$ and give you an xbox 360 dev kit and THEN you can contact GG and lisence TSE 360"

I'm just wondering if a College student/indy can break into the xbox 360 dev ring without XNA or if its out of the question.

If you have a team/money/contacts, then a student/indy could do it as long as you shake the right hands and put the money in the right pockets. But (when released), XNA is the most direct route for the vast majority of indies/students/hobbists who want on the 360.

Because TSE 360 requires the MS 360 SDK, you have to be a 360 licensed developer to use it.

If you are trying to break in to XB360 development, by far your best option currently is to develop with TSE, demonstrate quality play with an XBox360 controller on a PC, and get it in front of enough people that can either show it to MS, or go through the difficulties in getting it in front of them yourselves.

MS 360 team is well aware of the relative ease of deployment on the 360 when the TSE with XB360 layer is used, and in my personal (not professional, we don't have any special deals with them or anything) opinion, make your game first, then worry about the 360 aspect later (as long as you plan for the various unique characteristics of XBLA titles).

Of course, XNA and Torque X will be providing alternate exposure capabilities to console development, but Game Studio Express is not designed as a commercially viable development path. The best it can do is get you used to working with consoles, and be able to demonstrate game concepts.

I talked to Tim like you said and he told me how

but he said it costs some where between $20,000 and $50,00 for a lisance so i dont think I'll be getting it soon.

:)

I hope that helps
