I just have a few questions that I would appreciate it if you answered:
1.Do you use TGE?
2.a.Do you use TSE?
__2.b.If not, why?
3.Do you use TGB?
4.a.Do you use TLK?
__4.b.If not, why?
I was just wondering, just cause :).
Thanks,
Okashira

2: yes
3: no (not interested in 2d dev.)
4: no (I don't see it worth buying with TSE final so close)
I use TGE to test out my scripts, because my TGE test world loads ALOT faster than my TSE test world.

2. no, the hw requirements are higher than our target audience
3. no, we're doing a 3D thing. have considered TGB for UI tho.

2. TSE - Own it - just played with the demos so far - still can't compile it *sigh
3. TGB - Own it - tried some tutes - can get the sucker to compile *sigh - no Theora video :(
4. TLK - no... doesn't TSE make this obsolete? Anyway - if I used TGE for a commercial projects, I would use the fxLight plugin, DIF lighting and bump mapping to achieve the same result - but then again, this would take some time to implement - so for $50 TLK might be a smarter option - looks nice, especially the latest inclusion (HDR etc)

Quote:Not really. TSE and TGE are two separate products with different uses, purposes and target audiences. TLK for TGE is still a must if you want decent lighting within TGE. Just because it's being merged into TSE does not make it obsolete in my opinion. Not everyone wishes to use TSE.

2. I own it and have played with it, but I do not use it in my primary development and prototyping mainly because it is higher than my target hardware market. Plus I'm currently more concerned with prototyping fun than I am making it pretty. I can port to pretty.

2. Oh yes, it's so much faster and prettier than TGE and worth every penny.
3. Nope EDIT: Just noticed the TGB 250 tag for pro (source code), I'd use ajax and flash if I were doing a 2d game
4. Not currently, performance loss wasn't worth the visual result for what I was doing.

2: No - don't need what it does (yet!!). My target market is casual games and people without multi-hundred-dollar video cards so Torque/TLK does what I need how I need it done.
3: No, I don't write 2D games at this point. If I do anything 2D it'll be browser-based, probably in Java.
4: Yes! TLK provides lighting effects I need (I do environmental/exploration games so I need to be able to set mood etc. with lighting).

Yes on occasion
2.a.Do you use TSE?
__2.b.If not, why?
No because it has poor compatibility with older hardware, Geforce 2, Geforce 3, and Geforce 4mx or earlier because it requires a shader enabled card, and does not have fallbacks for older hardware. And many integrated chipsets like S3 and Intel who have a huge chunk of the market on systems used to play casual and indie games.
3.Do you use TGB?
No

2 - No (too expensive to justify the cost atm, don't really need it but still considering upgrade)
3 - No
4 - Yes, it adds much needed improvements to the Lighting and Shadowing system to bring consistant and smooth shading, and increase the realism of your scene.
