I just wanted to thank Ron for all of his hardwork. If it hadn't been for him leading the charge (and nagging us from time to time), we would be a lot further behind on supporting Linux.

As far as getting Linux versions of the TGE 1.4 demo and SDK installers up on the site, we are in the middle of testing them and if everything is solid it should go up *really* soon.

As a special treat for the patience of the Linux community, we are launching TGE 1.4.2 on Linux first with the Windows and Mac versions to follow in a few weeks (give or take GDC ;). So enjoy!
According to this post from Matt, TGE 1.4.2 should be available "in a few weeks." Well, I think it's been a few weeks! =)

Any word on when we can expect to see this?

Thanks,
Kevin

Not sure about you guys. But when I goto my account and clik on the download link next to Torque Game Engine SDK "Indie" License I see 1.4.2 listed for linux and 1.4.0 for win/mac (after clicking the linux logo)

Use cvs, it won't bite.

Would be nice to hear an official announcement. I dont want to download files off the CVS if I dont know they are stable.

Announcements are nice, it's true, but Ron's right - it's right there to download now.

@Orion - The Linux version yes but what about the Mac and PC?
Since GG has the policy of "It's ready when it's ready" (and perhaps rightly so), I'd almost rather they say nothing and just annouce it when it's done. Anticipating can only go so far. There's being informed and kept in the loop and just plain teasing.

... not that I don't like a good tease...

... but ...

...

... sorry, my mind wandered.

Further to this thread: I have recently purchased TGE 1.4.
Will TGE_1.4.2 be available for me to download or do I have
to by another license ??

You will be able to download it. In fact, you can do it now if you follow the CVS instructions, I believe.

Is TGE 1.4.2 currently available for the PC and Mac? Or is it only linux at the moment?

I believe that 1.4.2 has been checked into CVS, but the downloads only have it for Windows. I haven't gotten into CVS lately, though, so I'm not sure.

The only changes I saw between what I have as 1.4 and 1.4.2 are in the Linux modules, confirming the quote at the top of the thread. So my guess is that it hasn't been a few weeks yet...

Can a GG employee please post in here for the official word on 1.4.2.

Hey y'all,

I was indeed referring to the Windows/Mac 1.4.2 version. And I'm with Peter -- I'd rather have an "official" release that a potentially unstable CVS version.

Speaking of CVS, I thought GarageGames was ditching CVS in favor of Subversion?

What are the changes in 1.4.2? Anything that is noticable (ie; graphics and gameplay) or is it all code streamliney stuff? Not that there is anything wrong with that.... ahem.

Well, if you're not going to use cvs, download the "official" Linux 1.4.2 installer, load up linux, uncompress, then copy where you want. That's what us poor linux users have to do when they release something for windows.

Is 1.4.2 going to still be a free upgrade?
