After Windows Reinstall TT Not Working
by Victor Wooddell · in ThinkTanks · 06/22/2006 (4:58 pm) · 10 replies
I have owned a copy of TT for years, never had a problem. Recently I had to reinstall Windows XP Pro on my PC. Now I get an error message "Think Tanks.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" then it gives me an opportunity to send an error report to Microsoft. Another odd thing- I downloaded the demo and when I try to run it the same thing happens. What can I do?

I did update my video driver (Nvidia GForce 2) at the Nvidia web page. Didnt make any difference. I dont know if I have any other Torque-powered games, but 2 games we downloaded from Yahoo do something somewhat different- it's as if we never paid for the full version, and only the 60 minute free demo option is still available.

Ah, I might have been thinking in the wrong direction on this. You probably need to re-register your games. You should have received a registration code or some other type of activation information when you bought various games. If you still have that activation information (in an old e-mail maybe) then that could help solve the problem. If those activation codes are not handy or for some other reason you can't re-enable the software, you may need to e-mail each of the companies and request a new code.

Of course it's still kind of strange that TT would crash on you.

So- who do I contact for TT registration info?

Yes, that makes a lot of sense. But why would the demo version not work? That's got me paranoid. I would have simply bought the game again (heck, what's $20 after using it for three years?) except for that. So- who do I contact for TT registration info?

www.garagegames.com/company/contact/
From there, you will need to click on the Support Request Form link and follow the links and buttons.
Try that first -- but if you don't get a response after a few days, I would probably e-mail Benjamin Bradley. He might be able to help out.

Their contact page is probably your best bet. You can find it at . . .www.garagegames.com/company/contact/

What you're experiencing could be a combination of issues.

By the way, before going through the formal contact stuff, make sure you've searched and read through the Think Tanks forum threads. You might find something that describes what you're experiencing. What you're experiencing could be a combination of issues.

I'm having the same issue. I've downloaded the latest vid drivers and neither the demo or the purchased version function. I've downloaded the 1.1 version from the my account and reinstalled with the same result. Any help would be appreciated. TT

Anyone have any other suggestions besides the drivers and TT 1.1? TT

Have you updated all of your drivers after the reinstall? That could be a part of the problem. Do any other Torque-powered games or apps do the same thing?
