I know much better concepts have already been posted but, given the amount of time that I have put into this, it would be a waste not to do something with it.

I'm still enough of a programmer for this to be programmer's art but I'd like to think it is at least decent programmer's art =)

So what is the next character that we are going to want? I'm so slow at this point, I need to get started as early as I can!

Nice, Matt. What is the one thing you are trying to convey with the picture ? I see subdued-threat-in-a-non-threatening-package ...

Jonathan: I assume you are related to Jeff ... ?

Its not bad lookin, If you would have just put her in a different pose and still got the porportions right and maybe worked on the pants alittle, it would have passed off better, The standing strait up and looking strait out pose is hard to make look good.

Your 'programmers art' is alot better than most others.

Thanks Jonathan =)

Ken, I think you described my picture pretty well. Not quite what I intended but pretty accurate =) I originally planned for her to be in a much more threatening stance but, when you are stilling struggling with proportions, complex stances and foreshortening are not your friends!

Its still pretty cool design. I allways learned to use Head size for proportion, if it helps. Just take your fingers or something and measure the length of the head and then compare it to how wide her shoulders are and how tall she is and how long her arms are, etc. Its pretty easy. When something is coming toward the camera more just shorten it or lengthen it, I just guess for this.

Your proportions on that picture look pretty good though.

Hehe...I know the theory of using the head size for proportions but getting the theory and my drawing skills to coincide is still dicey. I did use the head size to finally get her legs to come out right. Another thing I discovered in the process of drawing her that helped a lot is to hold the page out at arm's length and lightly sketch the overall body shape...it is easy to lose perspective on what you are drawing when you are too close to the page. I am defintely going to do a more dynamic pose for the next character I draw. This was just my first full-body portrait so I decided to play it safe.
