Was there not a mod for replacing .dif objects with .3ds or something ??
I am so tired of .dif now so i can puke!
I want to use 3DS Max for the whole artcreation not having to use Quark.
Anyone having some solution to get rid of this stonage format .dif ??

EDIT:
It would also probably be a good idea to understand the why's and wherefore's of concave versus convex geometry adn the benefits.

Well, you can implement the shape3DS resource, but you will need to add in your own portaling and culling, I believe.EDIT:

Anyone have some more info about this ?
My main problem is the artpipeline.. I hate the limitations of CSG when modeling and go from Max into Quark
is like take a timewarp.
Yes, iknow the benefits with CSG/BSP but its mainly Quark i dont like.

"Map2dif overhaul - this tool is old and needs to be replaced. A new CSG and lighting processor will be written for it, partly to pave the way for future technology in this department."Anyone have some more info about this ?

If its mainly Quark you have a problem with, have you heard about Constructor? As far as I know, its in closed Beta at the moment, and should be coming soon.

Honestly, I would just do what UT2004 does. DIF for the basic big details, then put in DTS objects for the detail. You can't accuse UTs stages of looking crap.

You will still have to modify your Max workflow to be conscious of how GBL creates valid geometry.

A) Have you tried using .dts ?
and
B) BSP based modelling was used in UT2004, and probably will be in UT2007. Hardly "stone age".
