TGE Script Documentation

by Ron Yacketta · in General Discussion · 04/04/2002 (6:34 am) · 86 replies

Hello Everyone,

I have already spoke with Jeff Tunnel via email and he gave me the thumbs up "Go Go Go" signal.

So, work has begun to combine current resources and forum threads regarding TGE scripting into a single HTML formatted resource. Once this has been accomplished I will be trolling through the document (and engine code) to dig up as much info on each scripting command I can (weather it be from code, a GG employee or some other source).

If you have a scripting resource, tip, trick or tid bit of information please forward it to me so I can include it in this document. Full credit will be given to those who contribute to the project.

Regards,
Ron

Add four more to that list:

SplashData
DecalData
DebrisData
PlayerData

Ok, NOW does anyone know of a missing datablock?

Davis,

Again I dropped the ball on reading your documentation. I skimmed over it on my way out the door to coach my son's Soccer team, but have yet to pick it up again.

First glance was good, think I seen a "hole" in the document. Will reread at work

That's ok, Badguy - a lot is going to be missing from my datablock documenation. Mainly because I'm not doing it now! ;-) I went back and re-read this thread (looking for something else entirely!) and realized Matt Webster was working on datablocks, and got ahold of him to see if he's still working on it - yep. So, instead of replicating his efforts, I'm back to concentrating on a complete weapons guide, mainly for beginners or someone who doesn't quite 'get' the weapons system :-)

hi ron,
ive been breaking the project into parts. I think this is the only way to get this done. Actually its in 2 section.

The first section is an exp[laination of scripting: operators and functions. they do this in chapters such as basic scripting, datablocks and objects, string functions, math functions, audio functions, communications... any more? let me know and what functions should be covered.

the second section is appendix. they cover all reserved words, operators, the functions descriptions, and return types, and arguments, console variables
, events, datablocks.
