Orc riders.

I'd love to see some concepts for orc riders. Basically, orcs riding some other types of creature. Maybe dinosaur like?

I was thinking something like this too actually :)
Maybe have an Orc mounted on a Large Ogre (a knckle-dragger), that can maybe spit fire.

If anyone remember Thundercats, the Luna-Tax villains, they had something similar...

Maybe a two legged creature, like the one in Star Wars or the "Wizards" movies. Two legged would be easier to deal with on the terrain :) All we'd need after that is a lance and we could make a jousting mod!

Yes !
Make a 3D clone of Joust :)

Tim, yeah, what was that two legged creature luke rode in return of the jedi? a tauntaun? something like that.

Basically, a hairy 2 legged dino style creature about the height of 1 1/2 orcs :))

Love to see some cavalry based on those :))

Excellent image. Now if only someone would model the beast I'd be able to get him in game VERY quickly.

:)) torque doesnt have 2 legged vehicle support :)))

Sure it does....

All you need is a large player type model with a mount point on the back.

Just mount one player object to the other.

Cool Concept. I was thinking small dragons (2 legged of course) with orc riders and maybe small Griffons for the Elves.

It might be neat to toy with giving the "mounts" a small bit of AI. The player being the "rider" has control over themselves and their weapon, your "mount" is under the control of the AI. You can freely shift in the saddle to swing your weapons at other players and your mount is free to use its teeth, claws and tail to attack either the same, or other players swarming around you.

Naturally of course, you can "direct" your creature to run and pivot still, but maybe only if your creatures "morale" is still loyal to you? As in, spells, massive hordes of swarming enemies or even "scarier" beasts may startle your creature into dismounting you or running away for a bit. Heck, maybe your mount occasionally goes balistic with frenzy and charges after "prey" against your better judgement under certain conditions.

Hey if you had'nt read my new post or nuthin, i'm in dire need of somethign to do, so I'll start modeling him based off of that concept work. If you want to send any suggestions, send them to painiac@comcast.net or MattCrawford@comcast.net same account and everything. I would appreciate a bit more concept work for the beast he's riding, specifically a profile view and a scale of how big he is in comparison to human size. I'm starting work tonight laying out the basic form. I'll post my progress, I have about 5-7 hours a day to work on him, i'm not the fastest thing in the world but i'll eb damned if he wont be optimised. And could somone point me twords a polycount for this creature?

Orcs riding orcs riding orcs riding orcs, maybe?

Imagine the horror as you see towers of orcs marching toward your front line!

Erm... maybe not...

But that brings me to another completely unrelated point, how about you can jump on people's heads, and if you land correctly, you can land on their head and start stabbing them while you cling onto them? They can shake you off by suddenly changing direction a lot, taking falling damage, or jumping in water. Just an idea.

Matt: good luck on the creature model. I'd say as a suggestion, try and keep within 1000 poly's for the creature.

Obviously the fewer the better, but we're really trying to push the envelope with better models and stuff, so if it looks boxy then dont be afraid to add detail.

You get the model done and I'll see if I can arrange for someone to animate it.

I really want to get some of these beasts in game.

only 1000 polygons? for a creature of that size? The larger the creature the more you need to convinse people it's a smoth surface, if i do that in 1k poly the detail level between him and the character riding it will be in consistant. I'm sure the torque engine can handle at least 2k with LOD's. Also I'm going to need that side view for a proportion reference, the angle that the creature is at now I would'nt be able to recrate it as exact as i want. if your not worried about 100% accuracy then I will just start and fill in the blanks.
