Soon to be released: 4 exciting and fun custom levels!
"Beams" - The player must carefully navigate a series of narrow beams while collecting gems, avoiding hazards, and carefulling jumping from beam to beam. First in a planned, upcoming trilogy. Very difficult.
"Giant Cone" - Using a much larger version of a custom interior from "Summer Fun", the player must travel to the top of an enormous cone. Many skills are used, including jumping, flying, and evading hazards. Fairly difficult.
"X Marks the Spot" - The player must retrieve 10 gems while rolling over and under an X-shaped platform. Fairly easy.
"Corridor" - The player must speed down a long hallway in less than 90 seconds, evading the hazards. Somewhat difficult.
"Beams" has been completed. "Giant Cone" and "X Marks the Spot" are both works in progress. "Corridor" has not been started yet. Expect to see preview screenshots!
These levels should be released on Friday, April 7.

Anyway, "Beams" is a LOT different than "Purple Grid". I want to put in a screenshot to prove it, but I don't know how.
Also, is there a way to take a screenshot in a level without changing the image in the level description?

1.) www.imagevenue.com will host your image the just use html lite to add it to the forum.
2.) I have a mac, so I use Apple key/Shift /3 OR Apple key/Shift/4
Thanks for the applause, I needed it!

I have just completed "Giant Cone" and I am still testing it. Expect screenshots later tonight!!
Other news: "X Marks the Spot" is nearly done, while "Corridor" is still being planned. Screenshots from these levels will come during the next few days.

After trying for hours, I simply could not get the imags to work on www.imagevenue.com, so I will post links to them instead. You can copy and paste into the address bar. Here is a screenshot from "Beams":

E:\Program Files\Marble Blast Gold\marble\data\missions\beginner
and this shows you all the list of my Beginner Levels in MBG. Yet you cannot see it.
So anyway, send it to me at matanv2@walla.co.il and I'll upload it and give you screenshots. Same for Giant Cone and all the rest of them.

Hmmm, Andrew, you can send the screenshot to me and I'll post a link to it from another site. I'm an admin of that site and I'm allowed to post such JPGs. Anyway, you tried to take this from your Mac so it doesn't work out. It's like me doing this:E:\Program Files\Marble Blast Gold\marble\data\missions\beginner

"Corridor" is being made now and should be done by tomorrow.
04/05/2006 (2:41 pm)
I have sent two more screenshots to Matan, another from "Giant Cone" and one from the recently-finished "X Marks the Spot". Hopefully those will be put up soon. Also, I hope I will learn how to put up screenshots on my own, so I won't have to rely on Matan to do it all the time ;)"Corridor" is being made now and should be done by tomorrow.

Beams: Uncompleted - Beams.mis only 5 KBs, missing interriors within level (due to filesize being low, there weren't (almost) any beams. No review available.

X Marks The Spot -
Fun Factor - 8 out of 10
Creative reuse of MBG parts - 8.5 out of 10
Challenge - 7.5 out of 10
Thought Factor - 8 out of 10
Overall Score - 8 out of 10.
General Comments:
X Marks The Spot presents to the player 4 large platforms, where gems can be found, and gravity modifiers. With the help of a super speed, the player can rush through all the platforms, get the gem at the end of the platform and then flip to the other way using two gravity modifiers. At the end, the player has to finish before a gold time of one minute. The level has no bugs whatsoever, but no InBound Triggers either. As a creative and original level, it's quite recommended to be played!
Personal Comment:
I really liked the level and the gold time was expected. I broke it on the second time I played this level. I liked the idea of gravity modifiers and gems. The level didn't have InBound Trigger (upsetting me), but I enjoying playing this level. It was quite original and I was happy with the flow of the level.

Giant Cone -
Fun Factor - 8.5 out of 10
Creative reuse of MBG parts - 8.5 out of 10
Challenge - 8 out of 10 (been lucky there! It could've been a 2 very easily. I'm generous.)
Thought Factor - 7.5 out of 10
Overall Score - 8.125 out of 10.
General Comments:
Giant Cone, being a very original level that has a custom interior (and somehow, its creator forgot to add a note that it's from Solo Hans... since it's custom it also means he has to put it in the letter attached, otherwise this level is useless and uncompleted.), presents the player to use super jumps and gyrocopters in order to go along the large cone in the centre while avoiding many hazards. Fun and well recommended. The bad news is that it has an obvious shortcut. Gold time of 80 seconds.
Personal Comment:
I liked this level but I found it too hard for myself (I, personally, hate going over these white lines that barely stick out of the wall) but I found a nice neat shortcut at the start that caused me to end the level in 13.229 seconds. Perhaps that shortcut could've brought the challenge factor to a 2/10. I feel generous since I could get ~41 seconds just as easy. I didn't play all the level (those white lines are annoying for me) so I just saw from 'upwards' the level and decided how hard it is. In fact, I think I didn't play even 50% of this level :P. Good job putting an InBound Trigger.

Spoiler ahead - Gold Time Shortcut.
Corridor -
Fun Factor - 8.5 out of 10
Creative reuse of MBG parts - 9 out of 10
Challenge - 8.5 out of 10 (Again, too lucky. Don't ask how much I would've given you instead)
Thought Factor - 8.5 out of 10
Overall Score - 8.625 out of 10.
General Comments:
Corridor presents the player to a huge closed room where the player has to travel while avoiding many obstacles on the way. With a qualify time of 45 seconds and a gold time of 25 seconds, corridor is a fun challenge to everybody. The major problem is that it's too easy if you know what you need to do. InBound triggers included.
Personal Comment:
I liked this level. I had a time of 30 seconds (gah, missed the gold time!) on the start, but after 3 more times I played this level, I have a time of 10.756 seconds :). The thing that put down my gold time was the obvious Gravity Modifier. You hit it and all the platforms and whatever is out of the way and you can jump along and roll very fast to the finish. In fact, I didn't have to worry about the fans or those pruple platforms because I jumped/rolled underneath them. Too easy. Otherwise, without the gravity modifiers, it's a good challenge.

Couple questions:
1.) Should I send you the cone custom interior? And what did you mean when you said "add a note that its from Solo Hans"?
2.) What should I do with "Beams" so that you can play it?

Thanks for the reviews, Matan! I appreciate them :)Couple questions:
1.) Should I send you the cone custom interior? And what did you mean when you said "add a note that its from Solo Hans"?
2.) What should I do with "Beams" so that you can play it?

1) No need to, I have that interior, but what I meant is that the fact it's a custom interior means that your average person will not have that 'cone' interior (it is custom, meaning didn't come with the game) and therefore will have an 'incomplete' level. So what I meant is you need to put the .dif file in the letter when you send people 'Giant Cone' and any other levels that use custom interiors.
2) Can you try and re-send it? Are your using custom interiors? Can you post here the code for this mission?

Beams -
Fun Factor - 9 out of 10
Creative reuse of MBG parts - 10 out of 10
Challenge - Perfect 10
Thought Factor - Perfect 10
Strategy and Placement - Perfect 10 - How well did the creator placed the gems and power ups in order to add for the challenge of this level.
Overall Score - 9.8 out of 10.
General Comments:
Beams presents the player into a small maze where the whole pathways are made up of beams. While the player has to find 10 gems, he has to (very) carefully maneuver through many beams and use (very carefully) the super jumps and gyrocopter power-ups. A very original, creative and difficult level. Includes a gold time of 90 seconds (1:30 minutes).
Personal Comment:
Wow! It took to me 8 minutes before I finally managed to get all the gems on the first part (woo! all 5!) and then in 1 go I completed the last five without falling once! I really liked this level, and it was quite hard.
Also, I was happy to see a gold time so high (1:30.00 minutes!) considering it took to me 1:19.88 minutes to finish this level. Excellent job with this level and looking forward for more!

Can I have "Giant Cone" and "Corridor"? tpantano@mac.com
Matan
BTW, why is everybody doing suddenly preview screenshots since I started doing these in my levels? :P
Also, trilogy? Jeez, people love copying my ideas :) I should be credited for giving new life in custom levels and encoraging people too! Solo should be credited too!
BTW - Beams sounds like the custom level - Purple Grid
Better be different than that!!!!!!
