I must sound like a total newb, but is this thing free? I know there is a page to buy 3D World Studio... but then there is also a download link? Is it a trial or something? I don't see anything that explains it. :(

Yes it's a demo that can be unlocked with a registration and nope it ain't free.

I just wish it had collada export... But I'll be upgrading my 3d world studio this weekend O_O THX!

Yeah, if it hasn't been fixed in 7 years and development has moved to the LW engine with its own integrated toolset, that bug will most likely not be addressed. Josh may have already addressed it many years ago, though.
