Watched Threads not working

by Scott Burns · in Site Feedback · 01/11/2006 (11:59 am) · 9 replies

Is the watched threads window broken or is it just not operational yet? There are a few threads I have notifies set on and I just realized that none of them show up in the watched window. Or is there another button that I'm not seeing that sets the thread to be watched?

EDIT:

Oddly enough after I submitted this thread it appeared in the watch window along another thread I set to notify today. Is the watch window not retroactive as in only threads set to notify after the update show up, or do only regular forum threads show up and not resources, as I believe the majority of my notifies were on resources?

Actually it seems that the watched threads tab is still broken. I've added several watched threads and i get nothing in that list.

This one did pop up in the tab for me. It seems like the way it works is a thread only shows up in the window if there's been a new reply. I'm assuming the watched resources don't appear in it since I haven't seen any of those show up at all.

Ahh... then that makes more sense. I thought it was a listing of all your watched threads, which IMO would be much more useful.

Yeah, that was the way I had expected it to work when I first made this thread. I too would find that way to be more useful.

Argh, we used to be able to look at *all* watched threads, which is how i bookmarked a list of threads i was interested in and wanted to revisit...

now, it seems like i cant view any of them.. i hope this feature is fixed very soon :(

OK Stupid question, how do you "watch a thread," The only thing I have ever seen is the "Notify me at *** when new replies are posted"

@Dave, that's how you used to do it.

check the "notify me" box, then on a seperate page was a list of all your watched threads.

i made it my habbit to check-box all the threads i was interested in, and now there seems no way to go back and look at them :(

I have the same problem as Jason, I was counting on a complete watched thread list. In addition it would be nice if you
- sorted by last changed date with most recently changed listed first
- marked the threads that I've read with the latest update so I don't need to check them again
- include watched resources in the list(they don't seem to be now)

As it stands now the watched thread tab is useless to me because it just list a subset of old threads that I've read ages ago.
Thanks!

Is there a maximum limit now on how many threads someone can watch?

I currently have 12 watched threads in the list, but I used to have alot more, probably twice that. But I only see 12 in the list now, and I can't watch anymore.

If I click "Notify me" then it will tick the box, but when I come back it will be unticked.

I can't notify myself of any replies to this thread, because the "notify me" takes the thread off my watched list.
