Unread posts pages sometimes don't show

by Michael Cozzolino · in Site Feedback · 12/20/2005 (6:04 am) · 6 replies

I had 600+ unread posts so it was like ten pages worth. Sometimes when I would go to the next page it would not show the pages on the bottoms, same happens sometimes when backing from a thread I read back to the list.

I'm finding that unread posts from some forums show up in the list, but not from other forums.
For example a post I made yesterday in the programming forum showed up in the small unread issues list, but not in the "more unread issues" list.

I'm having similar problems, this doesn't only happen on the unread posts page though. It seem pretty random but once in a while the height gets set way too low and cuts everything off.

I'm still seeing this (using Mozilla 1.7.12 under Linux). I'm not sure if it's connected as well, but using the scroll wheel to go down a page sometimes stops in the middle. I would have to move the mouse to the edge of the screen to use it to scroll down again. Something is stopping it in the middle... it's the strangest thing I've seen.

Not a problem for me anymore.

Michael: the image you posted is the exact same problem I was having. I upgraded to Firefox 1.5 and it went away.

There are still strange things though. The other day the page showed 15 threads with unread posts, but the link at the top said "Mark all as read (7)". I've never seen the list of threads be larger than the number before, but I've seen the other way all the time - if there are multiple unread posts in one thread, for example.

Strange.

Just so you guys know, the occasional "lost" thread (new, but not showing as "unread", as well as other very small inconsistencies have been around for quite a while...but it's so undeterministic that even I haven't reported it to Rick, because I can't ever figure out how to duplicate it.

If you can somehow get a glimpse as to what may be going on and describe how to duplicate, that would go quite a ways towards helping to solve it!
