Does TSE have the Torque Network Library built in?

Friends,
As the subject asks, does the shader engine include the Torque Network Library? I thought I read somewhere that it had it.

why would the TNL be nearly $300 if it comes bundled in TSE for $150?

Why would u uze TGE when TSE = TGE + benefits?why would the TNL be nearly $300 if it comes bundled in TSE for $150?

The reason we are using TGE is because we are looking for hardware compatibility. Trying to make a game that runs on a higher number of systems :)

TNL is basicaly the network layer extracted from TGE. This allows you to use the amazing network layer with other game engines. SOme see value in it, but I think TGE/TSE is better than most, so I see no need in it anyway (personaly speaking). The reason we are using TGE is because we are looking for hardware compatibility. TNL is the Torque networking stuff pulled out and cleaned up. RPC functionality is added as well.

So is TNL included in TSE or is it a different network layer that is more like what TNL was before you pulled it out and cleaned it up?

I believe TNL also includes a master server.
When looking at whether to use TGE or TSE, TGE is tried and true tested technology with a large compatability base. TSE, while impressive, is still in early adopter phase. Some groups like the Poacher team are doing amazing things with TSE, but it is currently at a state that would be difficult for many developers.

The network layer for TGE and TSE is pretty much the same, I believe. But then, I also use TGE rather than TSE so I haven't looked at the network layer in TSE. But that is my understanding.I believe TNL also includes a master server.

Can we get an official answer on this? i'd hate to spend $300 on the TNL to find out it's already in TSE.

Well, you can download TNL for free and see the complete source code. To use it in a closed-source project, you would need to have a license, though.

Yes meaning - TNL is basically ripped out from TGE/TSE and cleaned up.
No meaning - TNL has RPC funtionality added which TGE/TSE don't have.
Unless you need RPC functionality you won't need to spend money on TNL when it was ripped out of the engine you have in the first place.

Jonathan - Pat Wilson is an employee of Garage Games so I would take his answer as official.he said:

As far as I knew TNL is designed for people looking for some source code they could plug into there engine.
When TSE is WID, ah cough, then it should have just about 99% of TSE's network ability.
TSE is simply TGE extended to take advantage of programmable GPU's for hardware acceleration, I.E. hardware shaders.
But it's so complex that pieces have to be added in for a stable build. BTW There is a cash paying bounty system
for those that don't own TSE if you want to get in on the action. Edit: (By purchasing it and getting access)
For the money it's a wise investment IMO.
What was THE hottest christmas item this year on earth..??
Xbox 360... and what does that do?.... Programmable GPU...
BINGO.. We have a winner...
Correct me if I am wrong but that's what's in my twisted mind...

Hum, now I am confused. A clarification would be much appreciated. As far as I knew TNL is designed for people looking for some source code they could plug into there engine.

Don't buy TNL if you plan on using TSE. It would be a serious undertaking to pull out the networking from Torque, and put TNL back in. One day maybe that problem won't exist.
