Linux Collaboration

Hey guys,
Based on the discussion happening at Jeff's .plan, I'm starting a thread here in the private forums so that Linux Torque developers who are interested in seeing stronger Linux support can get more involved in the development process.
This is also a chance to help get more Torque projects onto Linux. There's a bit of a shortage of reliable Linux-enabled developers that are willing to do builds, help port, etc.
So if you want to see across-the-board Linux support happen, you're a good dev, and you're willing to donate a little time to the cause, consider volunteering. :)
(And don't think this is a thankless job, either - of the four Linux guys I've worked with, one now works at GG doing XBox 360 development, one does builds for many games, one is able to make money doing contract work, and another is working on a kick ass RTS with a now-GG-employee... This is a great opportunity to get more involved in professional game dev, get some nice perks, or just earn the respect & adulation of your peers.)
Having a list of people who are interested in this sort of thing will be a big boost to anyone trying to get their product on Linux, including things like GG getting future Torque releases out. :) Instead of scouring the web, people can just check here. Fast, quick, easy.
Thanks for taking the time to get involved!
Ben

The patch will not be applied to CVS HEAD.
The compiler errors will be resolved in 1.4.2, just waiting for go ahead GG seeing that I have to update many files outside the x86UNIX Platform directory.

The way it looks, it goes in a circle:
GG cant be arsed giving linux quality time, so people think "ah bugger it, I'll just stick with windows", so GG see's that and thinks "ok, not many linux users we should just focus on windows".
So it looks like GG is stifling the linux side, some linux users see that and decide its better to just stick to windows because of that, so on and so bloody forth....
The reason I bought my license, was the linux support of the engine.
If thats going done the gurgler, then I want my freaking money back!
Same goes to TSE, reason I bought my license for that, was "eventualy ported to linux", and from the way the directx shit seems to be going, it looks like linux won't see TSE, or the linux port would be halfarsed.
Seriously, quick glimpse, quick look over the forums and comments, thats what it looks like.

Kind of disturbing reading what the staff have to say...The way it looks, it goes in a circle:

I realise the plans are to eventualy port to opengl and *nix, but after reading some of the comments made above, there seems to be a bit of negativity surrounding it.

On a more practical note, it would be very good if future discussion related to things in this thread could be put in its own thread. While the show of interest and collaboration here is great, it's just getting more and more unwieldy as we near the 1000 post mark. :) So, please, stick it in a new thread.

It's really not that much of a circle. We've supported *nix for half a decade, both with our engines and our games, and there have been a small number of sales. So we're not making it job 1 anymore, although we're still very interested in finding ways to support the platform, as I think our work with Ron and others shows. On a more practical note, it would be very good if future discussion related to things in this thread could be put in its own thread. I know you supported the nixes for quite awhile, been using torque on linux for the last 2 years or so, well, been out of the scene for about a year though.
Fair enough with the linux support though, can't expect you guys to exist on just engine licenses so you gotts make that cash somewhere, be it windows only or not.
JUst don't completly forget the little man.
I was commenting on the thread itself if you didnt pick that up.
Oh, and I'm in for helping the *nix side of things. :D

Actually, I'm more inclined to T2D.
How can I help?
