Just curious about any waiting in line stories or feedback on the unit.

I do agree with the other people graphics don't look that great and majority of the titles are pc ports and or are coming out for the PC. I will be waiting for the PS3

Titles at launch never even come close to the full potential of the console.

LOL @ Joseph

Too bad those are just pictures, I'd like to see the actual video footage. Some guys somewhere in asia did that with PS2's a few years ago (throw out he window, run over it with a truck, etc).

@JeffW ... uh .. that's kinda the point. Let me see you just kinda complained about pc ports
on a website forum for a company that's doing what?... porting a pc game to X360.

At least MS wants to work with indies. I plan on selling tse game(s) for X360 arcade myself
in the next couple of years. PS3 will make good product and competition. But I think it's lame to
take a shot at PC ports when like that's a major thrust of Torque's future and a new market.

To be fair, Marble Blast Ultra is not a straight port--there are major fundamental gameplay changes (only platform with multi-player, for example), but Randy's point is probably a good one.

Now I do agree that charging MORE for the "ports" than for original XB-360 works is a little unusual, but I think that's just riding the edge of hype, and what the market will bear during the early rush.

The Xbox is apparantly easier to develop for from the Dev's I know. The Playstation 2 is a bit fiddley and sensetive.
This will have probably chanded by next year with the PS3.

I'm in Australia, and I can't even get an X360 until next year and they'll cost around $600 AUD at EB. Screw that, I'll buy a 7800GTX and a new motherboard for the cost of that console with Oblivion, PDZ and Halo 3! They don't even have a price for the PS3 yet, and even then it will probably be equally as expensive. The games may be cheaper, though.

I went to 4 diffrent stores looking for one. I even ended up as Sears and was #2 in line when a woman came out and said that they didn't get there shipment in, and that it was only going to be 4 units, and that they didn't want people standing around so they made us do a raffel for the first 15 customers told us to leave and they would call the winners later on. I decided to think outside the box and call a blockbuster and they had one unit and one unit only for sale but they did a price jump and charged me 449 for the system and rang it up as a core system wich felt kind of funny, but I wanted one and wasn't about to argue with the sales associate, now I have one and Quake 4 looks awsome. MICROSOFT BLEW THE LAUNCH BIG TIME and I hate to say it, but I gurante there will be no shortages over seas, becuase thats were the big M wants to make its biggest hit, and I can't blame them for it after all its all buisness. But I can not help but fell sorry for them too since a press release was stressing that PS3 should not cost more then 400 dollars alot of people will just end up pre buying PS3 out of spite.

Quote:@Randy: Armed robbery is not as bad as other scum such as rapists, kidnappers, or.......email spammers (quiver).

My domain keeps getting spammed from this one guy ("Steven Allison") with a .zip attached, like 1 email an hour for the last day. Two of his emails purporte to be from the CIA and FBI saying they logged me "lookng at illegal web-sites", and included real footers with correct addresses and phone numbers.

So I called the one - it was a real CIA internal number - I wasn't their first caller yesterday, I think they were pissed at the guy... lol...

Anyways, I'm broke now, so I figure by the time I get a job and some money the PS3 will be out and I can choose. I'm more of Sony guy, but since i'm trying to break into the industry I will probably buy both/all.

I got a 360, waited 15 hrs infront of freakin Target for it...but people ordered pizza and donuts for everyone so it actually was pretty fun :P About people saying the graphics dont look that great, you might want to play PDZ and PGR3...Only games that look better (imo) are Quake 4 and Doom III running at 1600x1200 on a $400 dollar videocard. I have a 7800 GT, while its cool, its doesnt impress me as much as 360 as a whole.

I live in Seattle, WA and you'd think that you could find one around here... nope! It's so hard to get one here that even if you try to mug someone for it you have to wait in line behind 100 other people.

My brother in law waited 14 hours overnight and got the version with the HD and bought COD2 and later that day bought Quake 4 and Perfect Dark. I have to say that I love the wireless controllers. I proabably won't get one for a while since I recently bought a new PC.

As far as violence I don't think there was any at that location. Maybe after he left because people were screaming in the back of the line. My brother in law told them they only had 14 in stock but they didn't listen. O well. I'm sure the next couple of shipments will take care of everyone.

Someone mentioned that they don't like ports of games. I have no problem with it as long as the ports are good and are not just thrown together for a different platform to make money without putting real effort into it.

I probably won't get one at all.. Never got an X-Box, Don't even have a PS2. If I get a console, it'll probably be a PS3.. if at all.

I've got a PC, what do I need a console for?. Play a game, do some work, surf the net, draw some graphics, play some music, Chat to friends... make my own games.

compared to a console.. Play a game.. play another game.. get bored.. gather dust.

Much as I hate to admit it, I'm with Jason on this one.

I haven't bought a console since I had a PS1 - when they were brand new.

Shortly after that purchase, I was inducted into the world of PC gaming and the console hit the storage closet.

I'd buy one if it was a development tool - basically a test platform for a console port, but beyond that I just don't have the interest I once did.

I guess when you get right down to it, I don't see paying for an Internet connection, only to have to pay an additional fee for online multi-player (which is more than half the draw for me) games when I can already dive into online multiplayer on my PC with no additional charges.

I'm really curious to see what happens when MMO's start getting released for consoles. That ought to be a riot... fee for net connection, fee for online service, fee for MMO subscription. Heh.
