Anyone buy Xbox 360?

by Vashner · in General Discussion · 11/22/2005 (2:51 pm) · 70 replies

I didn't get one because I am saving for a new pc. But will get one next year.

Just curious about any waiting in line stories or feedback on the unit.

//curious about any waiting in line stories:

1) Somebody mugged a kid when they left the store
2) One guy in VA robbed an EB at gunpoint and walked away with 2.

LOL that's sad. VA suprising too.. lot of people pack heat there. Armed robbery has to be the lowest form
of scum on earth.

...like the guy who got shot at the concession stand at 50 cent's new movie...

I'm waiting until it has a couple more games that I want to play. Right now it has PDZ and Kameo. PG3 looks nice, but I'm not as excited about it as I was the second one (probably because the second was mostly cosmetic changes). I enjoy the Amped games, but not enough to splurge for a system. Gun looks fun, but not enough to get a new system for.

I'll definitely pick one up, but launch console are often title-thin.

At 60$ per title I'm not very interested.

What's an Xbox 360? i have a box-shaped microwave that has a little tray that turns all the way 360 degrees...is that kind of like an Xbox?

j/k

@Randy: Armed robbery is not as bad as other scum such as rapists, kidnappers, or.......email spammers (quiver).

@august
so pretty much you're good til 2008 and then you're broke.

ad for me I'm going to wait for the playstation3 and revolution and see which one is the best and buy that one. (I bought gamecube right of the bat last time... bad idea). I see it going either way.

Theyre really pretty, I cant wait for Linux to come out forit, then you could save a bunch of money, because the 360 has something like 3 3.2 gig processors :D, you would get an awesome console/PC for mutch less than you would normally pay for something like that.
@Master Treb, I know how you feel about the Gamecube....but hey, at least we can play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(if it ever comes out!)

@Jeffery I would say rapists are the worse.

But I dont want a Xbox 360, Im waiting for PS3. Microsoft Rushed the Xbox too fast making it still this gen, I saw some screenshots of King Kong for 360 still looks like Xbox graphics, but I also dont have 399 to fork out. And 60 dollars a game....I have trouble affording 50 dollars a game..

@Bejong K Yang - I agree with you 100%. They did rush it, but they had there reasons. The only way it would sell is if it came out way before the PS3. They had to drop most of it's power because they could not sell the system at a lower price then the PS3. The PS3 will be a much better system the the XBox 360 would have ever been, rushed or not. I don't buy consoles, but if I did I'd buy two PS3's.

My son, Jonathan, waited in line for 15 hours in the freezing cold to proudly land a 360 with hard drive and Perfect Dark. BTW, the games are $50 and the Live Arcade downloads will be $15, $10, and $15.

I am hoping to get an XBox 360 early next year, when hopefully all the hype has died down.

Previously i have grabbed consoles such as the Dreamcast and Gamecube, so i'm hoping to go the more popular "mainstream" route this time.

Don't think the hardware should be judged by the generic non exclusive titles launched for it. King Kong is a PS2 port with somera haders thrown in, but essentialy the same game as the PS2. No wonder it looks current gen. The same can be said about almost all the other multiplatfom games released in the last couple of weeks.

Huh, well, someone better tell Walmart, EB, Gamestop, etc... Cause they are all selling games at 60$ I've seen only 2 sub 60$ games.

@Jeff Tunnell, Perfect dark Zero is proably the only game for 360 that is $50, the rest of the games are $60

Kameo and Project Gotham Racing 3 are also 50. It's only the third party titles that are 60. I don't see the justification for charging 60 for the 'ports' since MOST of them are simply current gen titles with a few shaders and model tweaks thrown in.

I will be getting a XBOX 360 this year and a PS3 next year. These past five years have been fantastic for home gaming choices!

I played the Xbox 360, all that was new was Ai, and my theroy is that for the graphics they just enhanced the lighting and added a few shaders and better models.

I got mine (unfortunately, a core system and I was second to last in line for that ... also waited out all night). Perfect Dark Zero is amazing ... and Project Gotham is great as well ... although I need to spend more time with it. I also downloaded Geometry Wars via XBL ... and I was looking for Marble Blast Ultra but haven't seen it ... where's that little gem?

@Bejong K Yang: Perfect Dark Zero and Project Gotham Racing are really the only 2 next-gen 360 ship titles. Niether of them look anything like a current generation game. For instance, the cars in PGR are(so I hear) around 70,000 polies each. I don't think any current gen games can boast anything close to that.
