im a win2k user...
what is my most reliable option for a compiler?
-Codeblocks + visual c++ toolkit 2003
-visual express 2005 (beta2)
-TBE
what direct x sdk is the most reliable?
i hear octobers sdk is no good..
should i get the august sdk and update..!

I remember there was an issue with 2000 because MS will no longer support it. I know. It's dumb.

XP cd + license sticker is like 100 bucks or less so...
TSE is being built for the latest API's / OS / hardware shaders. Win 2000 was built with DX 5.0 right? .. antique technology.

It's not dumb... you can't keep the old os's running forever. Microsoft has bills to pay just like everyone else.XP cd + license sticker is like 100 bucks or less so...

Randy -- I doubt the OS really depends on DX5... Windows 2000 doesn't render very much -- plus, even if you have DX9C installed, it will use that instead of what it came with... plus, I prefer Windows 2000 to XP (I have legal copies of both, but I dislike XP).

and for compiling you just need visual c++ 6 or visual c++.net 2002 or 2003. is the same methode for tge for compiling
