SickheadGames making an exporter for 3DWS?

Torque support is being added for 3DWS but, I'm curious if SickHeadGames has any plans to offer an exporter for the new version?
Thanks

That as well as other concerns about the viability of Pipeline as an addon product for 3DWS (high cost, no evaluation possible) pretty much forced us into the Constructor camp. We've talked to the GG's folks and they're addressing all of the issues that we were worried about (mostly stuff related to the Torque UI) and other issues we were planning on addressing in Pipeline2 (lightmap stuff and DTS instancing).

@Eric - Up until two months ago we were planning on moving to 3DWS ourselves and porting Pipeline over to it. After an incident that i won't comment on JoshK stopped cooperating with us and has not responded to our emails. That as well as other concerns about the viability of Pipeline as an addon product for 3DWS (high cost, no evaluation possible) pretty much forced us into the Constructor camp. That's too bad. You guys did a great job with the pipeline1 and I know the intergration of pipeline2 would have been just as slick. Glad to hear you got the word into GG on the lightmaps and the DTS instancing stuff, hope that all gets into the Constructor.

3D World Studio exports straight to .dif, with no third-party plugins required.

"halo" I feel like that is kind of a dig at Tom even if that wasn't your intent. He has been very mature about the situation between you two and I find it kind of funny that you changed your name. No need to promote your wares in this thread. Everyone has seen your other thread announcing 3DWS's release. So you may want to delete or reword your post. Or maybe i'm just overreacting. BTW i'm a CS owner and am happy with it.

WTF? The thread is asking if "SickheadGames [is] making an exporter for 3DWS?" How is what josh said a dig?
He simply stated that one is not needed. Regardless of the situation, it was a well warranted post informing the original poster of the answer to his question.

This would be nice, wouldn't it. It is probably what I am looking forward to the most as far as gamedev is concerned.

@ Chris the answer was answered well before Josh's comment so that argument is not warranted. If you said hey I think you are knitpicking then maybe I would agree. Tone is hard to decipher in forums.

Constructer will allow this. Not being part of the beta team, I cannot say if its going to have all the features I've grown to love in my current builder, but knowing that much of it is scripted means that either I or many others will soon be adding anything we feel its missing.
Although I have great respect for anyone who adds Torque support to their products, I feel 3DWS is simply too expensive for such a closed ended product. Constructer costs are yet to be determined, but GG has released enough products that we pretty well already know their pricing schemes, and almost every single one has been very reasonable for a top notch product with tons of support added constantly.

One problem I see with 3DWS having a 'built in' exporter, is you will then be tied to exporting what and how Josh allows. Personally, I have made numerous changes to map2dif+ source for TSE, and I will only accept a builder that allows me to continue making changes as and when I see fit. Constructer will allow this. Not being part of the beta team, I cannot say if its going to have all the features I've grown to love in my current builder, but knowing that much of it is scripted means that either I or many others will soon be adding anything we feel its missing.

I think the phrase 'Built-in exporter' might be a bit mis-understood. 3DWS, like QuArk just runs a 3rd party app like map2dif. So 3DWS can save in its own format, or export to the .map format. At least at this point in time.

Brandon, you are correct. The exporter calls map2dif in one step, so it is seamless to the user, but yes, you can still use your own .map compiler if you wish.

If anyone would like to see the 'One step' .dif export from 3DWS, the link below shows how easy the process is.
torque.smdlabs.com/media/freeTutorials/quickClips/difView.htm
It also shows how the difView tutorial project can be set to load up the exported dif and add dts shapes to your dif interior.
